Re: Liveable Minimum Wages
So, Ontario raised it's minimum wage to $14 an hour, and it is not causing massive layoffs, businesses fleeing the region, or other predicted economic doom and gloom. https://news.ontario.ca/mol/en/2018/01/ontarios-minimum-wage-is-now-14-an-hour.html Funny how that works . And as a fringe benefit, ...

Re: Universal translators may be closer than we think.
There is the issue of inflation; just giving everyone $1,000/month means everyone can afford a rent increase or people may demand more for wages which will increase prices - or you may see prices go up as a price increase can be tolerated at the same supply point. It's much the same argument over m...

Re: Universal translators may be closer than we think.
I'm a big believer in the UBI especially when its applied in a truly universal way - not just for those who are unemployed. because say $1000 a month may pay the rent and gets you the bare essentials but $1000 UBI + $1200 a month working a minimum wage job means you can buy more games or a bigger tv...

Re: Alabama Election
Young professionals are a tiny part of Alabama's population. It's actually losing millennials faster than any other state. Assuming that going radical didn't cause higher turn out from the older white crowd in the name of stopping Communism, many of the people you'd be turning out with such a campa...

Re: Alabama Election
Yeah among 25-29 year olds there was only about 5% total turnout - 61% of those voted for Jones IF they'd been able to inspire young professionals AT ALL it would have been a democratic landslide. The demographic desperately needs to be locked down - and the only way to do it is some pretty radical ...

Re: Alabama Election
I'M SORRY, WHAT WAS THAT YOU SAID? 8D Hey I'm as surprised as anyone - it was still uncomfortably close and I still don't think Jones won as much as Moore Lost. I stand by everything I said there. you couldn't construct an easier opponent or loathsome human being and he still just barely lost. Stil...

Re: Alabama Election
Moore is almost certainly going to win - His opponent is so milk-toast, unmemorable and policy weak - a clear sign the democrats continue to learn nothing from repeated failures. Moore will likely win because the corporate democrats simply don't have the right policies and the messaging that comes o...

Re: Star Trek: Discovery - thoughts?
This show is mostly fine when the 'Klingons' aren't around - stop bringing them up, don't have them on camera, maybe explore more of the impact the war is having on the crew of discovery and then have the 'Klingons' bungle their way into a ceasefire so we can actually go discover something. We cant ...

Re: I have a question to those who want to legalize prostitution
I'd say no, as a rule. Having sex is not necessary for either life or dignity. Unless your name is Abraham Maslow. This sounds like a fundamental misunderstanding of what the hierarchy was supposed to illustrate - which was the general priority needs are motivated rather than actually being necessa...
