Re: Should Star Wars and Star Trek belong in the public domain?

Copyright is far, far too long for everything. Rights for cultural properties ought to expire after 50 years at most, which would make TOS public domain but not yet the rest of Trek.

Re: Babylon 5: Believers

I said the arc was poorly paced, not that it was bad. The pacing is very uneven; significant events feel extremely rushed for time while vast quantities of time are wasted in filler where nothing happens.

Re: My Journey Through Babylon 5

Final thoughts are the stuff with the telepaths. I dunno, the idea of the state enforcing three options on telepaths, prison over literally something they did not do, no crime committed, drugs that sap the life out of you, or bring drafted into military service like the Jedi do to newborn babies? W...

Re: Babylon 5: Believers

There are some aspects JMS is good at, and many he is not. Unfortunately, once he takes over writing the show full time, there's no opportunity to have other writers bring in their own strengths. That sort of thing really matters, I think. I wonder if having more junior writers on staff would have ...

Re: How Would You Fix Neelix?

With a pair of pneumatic shears. There's no need to be too inhumane about it.

Oh, you didn't mean that kind of fix.

Nevermind.

Re: Babylon 5: Believers

Just finished the review, and... HOLY SHIT. I... wow. When I finally get around to watching B5 (I'm checking out Chuck's reviews first, and reading through the wiki to help me understand this universe better first), I can only imagine how I'm going to feel. Like... really. DAMN. Do not get your hop...

Re: Mexicans provide humanitarian aid to migrant caravan

That feels like an oversimplification to me. Psychological research shows it's not an oversimplification at all. If you have the spare time, read this book, released free online by its (academic) author: https://www.theauthoritarians.org/options-for-getting-the-book/ There is a serious problem with...

Re: Mexicans provide humanitarian aid to migrant caravan

What's scary is how effective this was on the right-wingers... how they fell for the narrative Trump was pushing... and nothing fucking happened! "I did not mean that Conservatives are generally stupid; I meant, that stupid persons are generally Conservative. I believe that to be so obvious and und...

Re: Far-right violent attacks doubled between 2016 and 2017

Oh, well let's just ignore all the antifa and BAMN activity then. Right wing nut jobs shooting and bombing normal people with the defacto complicity of the federal government are rather more important than delusional snowflakes who can, on good days, get far enough beyond their bedroom doors to pun...
