Re: Patterns of Force

Well, we saw what Vandal Savage did with one laptop in "Savage Time." Checking the script of "Patterns of Force", I was surprised to find the episode actually answers my question: CHEKOV: Spacecraft approaching from inner planet. KIRK: From Ekos? SPOCK: Yes, but it must be a Zeon ship. Zeons do hav...

Re: TNG - Homeward

I like to go to the source. In this case, I point to the TOS episode, The Paradise Syndrome. In that episode, their mission is to save a planet from getting hit by an asteroid which would kill the population, who appear similar to Native Americans. It wasn't until they got there that they realized s...

Re: Babylon 5: The Summoning.

FYI, the 39 lashes is a Biblical reference. It's how many times Jesus was lashed.

Re: Babylon 5: Whatever Happened to Mr. Garibaldi?

I love G'Kar's line asking if the Centauri court has seen Garibaldi. Such a badass line. The look on Londo's face when he sees the opportunity he's been presented. The one guy he can absolutely trust to kill the Centauri Emperor is his greatest rival and a guy who's been resisting killing him for ye...

Re: Battlestar Galactica: Saga of a Star World

There's a theatrical cut of the pilot. It was shown in Sensaround. In that, Baltar is killed.

Re: Battlestar Galactica: Saga of a Star World

The premiere of this show was interrupted for the signing of the Camp David Accords. Unusual for the time, they actually continued it from where they left off instead of resuming it "in progress". Still, yy ten year old self would never forgive Jimmy Carter for that.

Re: Battlestar Galactica: Saga of a Star World

The series did a few movie homages to films. One was a Magnificent Seven homage. Another was a combination of The Guns of Navarone and The Dirty Dozen.

Re: Battlestar Galactica: Saga of a Star World

Baltar is a Doctor Who villain, if ever there was one. Like Mavic Chen, Tobias Vaughn, The Master, etc. thinks he can make a deal with invaders that will put him in charge. Probably figured he'd double cross them at some point and be in complete control. The Starbuck love triangle was dropped fairly...

Re: Patterns of Force

I've come to the conclusion that the subcutaneous transponder was created to avoid Shatner faking another stomach cramp to trick the guards and escape.

Seriously, why was this thing never used before or since? Why introduce something that clearly would take the drama out of nearly every episode?

Re: Patterns of Force

Given that standard, going with Facism was fine as it's not the system that's broken, but the people. Conversely, going with a democracy would've ended up just as badly if that standard is applied. Bad history aside, I get the idea of what they were going for. It actually fits well with the Prime D...
