Re: SF Debris/Confused Matthew phone conversation on Star Trek 2009?

Personally for me the appeal of 2001 is in the showing in exquisite detail a believable reality of mundane space travel. It's shot so artistically, and besides a few slightly noticeable matte compositions (which I don't think could have been done any better given the technology of the time), to me t...

I agree, especially when he was shouting. But I found some of his reasoning interesting, even though I usually didn't agree with his conclusions!

DS9 restoration issues

Many many thanks Chuck for the DS9 restoration; my friend who has just watched the series for the first time recently will be glad of so many more reviews being available to binge-watch, as he loves your insightful commentary and snark as much as I do! Some minor comments on the otherwise excellent ...

Problem with Discovery Point of Light review (corrupt sound)

Dunno if there's a better place to post this, but Point of Light seems to have broken sound. https://sfdebris.com/videos/startrek/c118.php

SF Debris/Confused Matthew phone conversation on Star Trek 2009?

I've seen reference in a few places to a phone conversation between SF Debris and Confused Matthew about Star Trek (2009). I don't remember ever seeing this. Anyone know where this was originally posted, and (if it still exists on the internet anywhere) where I might be able to find it today?

Re: Friday Poll #008 - Fusion

I believe there's so little He3 on earth that it's unrealistic to expect it to be used as a fusion fuel source at least initially. I think deuterium and tritium are much more likely, and those reactions do produce helium. I think the general thinking is He3 would either need to be produced by other ...

Re: Friday Poll #008 - Fusion

Fusion power's gonna hopefully solve the problem of getting cheap practically unlimited energy, hopefully, so yeah. That one. (Might also solve the helium shortage, so that's a bonus ;))

Re: 'REPUBLICANS ARE BASICALLY STARTING A WHITE SUPREMACIST CAUCUS' - The 'America First Caucus' is being formed.

Like I don't see any British resemblance in our government. As if they all still wear white wigs or something. The US government is actually based on the British government to a large extent — or at least, the parts of British government that the founding fathers thought were good ideas, combined w...

Re: Voy - Renaissance Man

I mean unless every square inch is a city on that island there got to be some ecosystem. Quite, though most of England and Northern Ireland, and much of Wales, is of course farmland, which (as I'm pretty sure sfdebris points out in one of his reviews — maybe Insurrection or possibly DS9's Paradise?...

Re: Star Trek: Discovery - Season Four

Discovery's improvements in some areas have come with the season-long plots getting somehow even more ridiculous each season. And the constantly changing setting means they're effectively having new first seasons, every season. Just when they've ironed out all the previous problems they introduce a ...
