Re: Death of a Hero: Luke Skywalker vs. Mara Hope

I think I may be jumping in with a thought on the wrong thread, but I think Rian Johnson handled Luke brilliantly (apart from the one blue milk shot). Before you disagree... think about what The Force Awakens set up. Luke had been missing. For a long, long time. It was shown where he was, standing a...

The Delta Flyers

Has anyone on here been listening in to the Delta Flyers Podcast with Robbie McNiell and Garrett Wang rewatching Voyager episodes and chatting about their strengths and weaknesses? Robbie has been talking about how dangerous Janeway is to her crew through her rash decisions in season 1. So far I thi...

Re: Miniseries: The Colour of Magic

Listening to Part 1 of the review now... I was surprised that the "7 days of the week" was brought up as a significant one. Given the entire reason for the 7 day week is the 7 celestial objects (aside from stars) visible to the naked eye. And the names explain the reasoning. Monday - Day of the Moon...

Re: Star Trek Discovery season 2 megathread

Number One didn't have any other name in "The Cage." They have decided to keep that oddity and joke about it. I'm sure that some fans would have complained anyway if they did give her a name. Damned if you, damned if you don't, as they say... You're not wrong. I wonder though if they had gone sligh...

Re: Star Trek Discovery season 2 megathread

Overall I've enjoyed Discovery so far. Season 1 tried something interesting - the captain was the main "bad guy" and we got the best exploration of the mirror universe since Deep Space Nine. Season 2 went for a series time travel arc and did a better job that the temporal cold war in Enterprise (the...

It will probably depend on the reason for the blindness. In medicine, just because the symptoms are the same doesn't mean the cure is.

Re: Sta Trek Discovery season 2 megathread

He was in that role because Spock was unavailable. I thought he was acting that way in an attempt to try and out-do Burnham and (the shadow of) Spock. He'll have been thinking constantly "if Spock was here, he'd be better". I know that doesn't necessarily show, but he felt very much like Captain Jel...

Re: The Thrawn Trilogy

Oh I'm not challenging that The Last Jedi is stronger than the Thrawn Trilogy. It's not. Though that goes in to Disney not laying down a plan for Episodes 7-9. I agree with some of the repetition regarding Empire and Return of the Jedi, but I still think the repetition isn't as glaring as in TFA. Ha...

Re: Should Ron Jones have come back for STD?

He's by far the most consistent composer for Star Trek in terms on quality. I also think he could make a Discovery theme tune which is more consistent with the sound and quality of the rest of the franchise. He could probably even make it sound like a successor to the current tune (just much better).

Re: The Thrawn Trilogy

I saw some people commenting on the Thrawn Trilogy acting as a spiritual successor to the prequels because of things like Coruscant etc. That's true, but I think it's only because the Thrawn Trilogy is so respected that Lucas himself used some ideas from them. Coruscant was first introduced in the ...
