Re: Silly Idea from the Future

Celebrity culture itself is going to look a lot different in a few years time and the world will be better for it. Yeah, that's never going to happen. There will always be celebrities but look at pop music/rock. Arguably, the pop music stars of today have nowhere near the cultural impact of Elvis, ...

Re: Silly Idea from the Future

within the next twenty years (to be conservative), the tech will be good/cheap enough for animation/CGI to be indistinguishable from live action.

watching a "live action" tv series with no human actors will seem normal.

Re: Apparently, not everybody hates Neelix

On youtube you can find any opinion. (except pro 1940's Germany). So meh, whether this Neelix love is genuine or clickbait, it's just another viewer with an opinion. live and let opine. that said....given all the 1-dimensional characters that fills pop culture right now, Neelix looks like the work o...

Re: Poll - Worst Star Trek series

voting DS9 as the worst is not insane. I do get that. But by that logic, would you rather live in the DS9 universe or the Picard universe? I'd take my chances being a NPC in the Picard time period. Galaxy -class ships were blowing up like TIE fighters in DS9., lol. another thing to nitpick about DS...

Re: Poll - Worst Star Trek series

voting DS9 as the worst is not insane. as (for arguments' sake ) to paraphrase Rich Evans, I want to live in the TOS or TNG universe, I don't want to live in the DS9 universe: space WWIII, Section 31, Earth carpet bombed by the Breen, millions of Federation dead, near successful coup, going through ...

Discovery and Picard make Enterprise and Voyager look like perfect masterpieces.

Re: The Expanse - Season 5 (Spoilers!)

Feel bad for Expanse fans as even here where you can probably find a long thread about Neelix and with Chuck's reviews of the books, not many people want to take about Expanse.

Re: Star Trek and Star Wars' Current Sound Design

there's a German word that relates to OP's observation--- gesamtkunstwerk. Which can be loosely translated as "the totality of art"----movies/television are just about the visuals, yes they are about the audio too. Chuck talks about sound design often---in his case background music "sound design." C...

Re: The Expanse - Season 5 (Spoilers!)

The finale of season 5 should have been the season 5 mid-season cliffhanger. Yes, IMO, there was that much fat that could've been edited out from season 5. but I haven't read the books, and it seems that the biggest Expanse fans are those who read the books beforehand. IMO, Expanse could've been a b...

Re: The Expanse - Season 5 (Spoilers!)

The pacing of this season after around episode 4 has been atrociously slow. The only good thing is Amos' arc---but his arc could've been told in 2 episodes as parts of his journey could've been edited out for brevity---like the side quest to get the motorcycle. Supposedly only 12 or so episodes unti...
