Re: Shows I'd like to see Chuck review

I'd honestly like to see his thoughts on the first Mass Effect game, and maybe in comparison to its sequels. I'd also be interested in what he thought of the two Elite Force games, especially the first one as it was made to be kind of like a Voyager episode. I can imagine Chuck's shock at discoveri...

Re: The Hermit's Journey. To arms, prequel defenders, to arms!

Gunray has the greed and ambition for Palpatine to exploit, both Haako and Dofine question his judgement and in the Clone Wars Lott Dod asserts that the Trade Federation is neutral and dismisses Gunray as an extremist. As for the Viceroy thing, the essential books describe the Trade Federation as b...

Re: The Hermit's Journey. To arms, prequel defenders, to arms!

That might have been Palpatine’s plan, but it makes no sense for the Trade Federation motivationwise; they don’t do it to show the Senate is bloated and/or corrupt or to help Palpatine clean up the Senate, they’re doing it to protest taxes and trade disputes. This implies one or more of the followi...

Re: The Hermit's Journey. To arms, prequel defenders, to arms!

Firstly, a lot of presidents essentially perform the same ceremonial duties as constitutional monarchs separate from the governmental powers of the prime minister, the main difference being that they are elected and don't wear special hats. Secondly, If you look at the context, its mentioned in the...

Re: The Hermit's Journey. To arms, prequel defenders, to arms!

It makes sense given how Lucas said multiple times that Jar Jar was the key to the prequel's success. Unfortunately the execution was extremely poor. And I'm not sure focusing development on Jar Jar was a good idea to begin with given that audience were there to see Anakin and Obi-Wan, not a random ...

Re: SG1: Seth

The thing about delving into every mythology is that SG-1 pretty much did that by the time of the Ori arc. Nothing was safe from Mayan gods to Celtic myth to Japanese folklore. Hell I know quite a few people who were rather upset Amaterasu was depicted as a Goa'uld, and a minor throwaway one at that...

Re: SG1: Seth

I prefer interesting and clever stories over being afraid of who gets offended. Or in the absence of using them as any sort of antagonist, they could at least not *pander* to certain groups as they did with the "Christian" planet or the half-assed way they handled to Ori or introducing Sokar. Nobody...

On the side against Yaweh being a nasty mean evil Goal'd compared to Tokra Jesus, I'd like to remind you to take a look at Jewish theology some time. There's the whole covenant thing, and precedent for people being able to bring that up and argue with God. Not sure what your point is. Goa'uld can b...

Re: EA Stock loses £3 billion in value - The Lootbox debate

Even assuming I found gambling to be something that should be illegal (I don't), the micro-transactions are not representative of gambling. Gambling always involves putting something of yours up on the line in order to win, and micro-transactions do not do that - they simply ask you to pay for some...
