Re: ENT: Two Days and Two Nights
I like the "Rear Window" idea brought up before - definitely would have injected some life into the episode and actually served a purpose behind T'Pol saying that Archer needs a vacation... when we've seen no indication that he needs one. At least in Captain's Holiday it was shown that Picard was gr...

Re: STar Trek Voyager - False Profits
I do kind of get why the Ferengi wouldn't try to set up anything more advanced than retirement among locals who worship them as gods. The technology these people have is so primitive that they could never hope to TEACH them how to use it or build similar objects or even more advanced foundations. Si...

Re: STD: Lethe
Honestly, I quite enjoyed this episode and felt it was more like traditional Trek - a rescue mission, character development for a lead (including both a bizarre technobabble device that might as well be magic), and a Captain defying orders to do the right thing. Tilly really started growing on me at...

I admit I did not catch the thing with Ash, either. I thought it was just well-hidden behind PTSD issues and, while confused that she was there, I figured there was a larger story going on or I was just mistaken and it was a different Klingon.

It also might be a case of two species having the same name - ask any Starfleet officer about Terellians and Terallians or Telarians.

Re: Star Trek (Dis): The Butcher's Knife Cares Not for the Lamb's Cry
Does anyone not agree? The first half of "By Any Other Name" made a bigger impression on my young self than anything else the original series ever did. The fact that they just turned around and went for comedy hijinks in the second half is one of the biggest missed opportunities in the franchise, t...

Indeed. A cargo-hauler probably doesn't need anything too complicated in it - just systems to maintain the engines going in one direction or another, course corrections, and when to stop moving. It doesn't need a library computer, life support, recreational areas, maintenance (at least in terms of m...

Re: Star Trek (TOS): The Empath
"Unremarkable" is how I would best describe it. It's not terrible - I get what it's going for, but it lacks a lot of substance and pacing that other, better episodes would help with. I think what would have worked better is if they had a subplot with Scotty and company attempting to rescue them and ...

Re: Star Trek (Dis): The Butcher's Knife Cares Not for the Lamb's Cry
There have been a few cases where we've seen the Enterprise can be run with a crew of less than ten people ("By Any Other Name . . ." comes to mind, where some aliens decide that all crewmembers outside of Kirk, Spock, Bones, and Scotty are non-essential). WITH the modifications they made, mind you...

Re: Babylon 5: Deathwalker
One thing I never really understood was if the immortality serum needed a member of that person's race, or if any person worked. Either a slaughter of their own species for immortality, or a genocidal kidnapping of other races for the necessary ingredient. Hence why Chuck's joke about animals still...
