Re: VOY - Virtuoso
I HATE this episode. Absolutely despise it. Hated it the first time I ever saw it and still hate it today - when I eventually get around to making my Top 15 Worst Star Trek episodes it's on there. It's character assassination. While not as bad as Phlox condoning genocide, it's pretty damn bad. The i...

Re: DS9: Business as Usual
I definitely think there's a difference to be made in individual ownership vs. what we see in the episode - large-scale sales without any regard to who the clientele is. Gaila's objection to selling to the General wasn't "But we're supporting the Regent and his honorable quest!" but rather "Selling ...

Re: TOS: Patterns of Force
Well, it's not like they needed to stick around for 20 years to oversee things, but rather have something in the coda to indicate "It's going to take a long time to overcome that hate. It took a long time for us, after all."

Re: TOS: Patterns of Force
Really the biggest flaw of this episode, IMHO, is the fact that it wraps up a little too cleanly. Deconstructing a hateful society is not something that can happen with the death of one bad leader - it takes time, self-analysis, pushing progressive laws and attitudes and culture... there's no reason...

Re: Doctor Who: Utopia, Sound of Drums and Last of the Timelords
Unpopular opinion- I thought the Master was WASTED at the end of Moffat / Capaldis' run. You could take Missy and the Master out of that story (at least the second part) and change nothing. He was set up to be the main villain, and he ended up a supporting character falling around with himself (lit...

Re: Doctor Who: Utopia, Sound of Drums and Last of the Timelords
I don't think the gun in four parts is a bad idea either, frankly. I didn't find that idea ridiculous at all that they'd have a weapon like that to kill the Doctor or Master permanently if they needed to. And of course that couldn't have been what the Doctor whispered. Why would he whisper "Just FYI...

Re: Doctor Who: Utopia, Sound of Drums and Last of the Timelords
UGH I forgot about him friggin' FLYING during the finale. Terrible, just terrible. My mother and I watched Last of the Time Lords back when they first came out and we both absolutely despised that ending. It was ridiculous and silly and frankly Chuck's idea of it all being in the Master's head was a...

Re: Doctor Who: Utopia, Sound of Drums and Last of the Timelords
I can't remember where (possibly one of the novels?) but it was suggested that the reason the Doctor's regenerations are so traumatic is because they never happen by choice. He always puts them off as long as possible, he falls from great heights, absorbs radiation, poisoned, etc. It's never "I have...

Re: STD - The War Without, The War Within
While I've been one of the defenders of Discovery, I will say that making Georgiou the Captain is just... dumb and nonsensical. Classifying the Mirror Universe to the rest of Starfleet made sense with the explanation they gave. But Discovery was in the Mirror Universe. Everyone onboard Discovery kno...

Re: Santa Claus Is Coming To Town
As I said on twitter, this was my favorite origin of Santa story until my wife showed me the Life and Adventures of Santa Claus. While that one has more weirdness to it (owing to being written by Frank L. Baum, the same guy behind the Wizard of Oz) it has a stronger ending plus a friggin' battle bet...
