Re: TOS: The Alternative Factor

This is an episode with POTENTIAL. There's a lot of ideas in it that would have been good, but clearly this episode needed another couple drafts to flesh things out. It was speculated that that one woman science officer who makes a few appearances in the episode was supposed to have a larger part in...

Re: Godzilla Raids Again

I'd like to think Godzilla fans are a little more forgiving of the names thing than, say, Gundam fans because the Godzilla movies themselves don't take a lot of this seriously and they rename the monsters all the time. Hell, even the title character has two friggin' names.

Re: STD: What's Past is Prologue

Two points with Chuck I'll disagree on - the first is stopping Lorca. With his high aspirations and ambitions (plus his willingness to lie and commit a grand deception to get what he wants) there's no guarantee that he'd be any better than Georgiou, nor any guarantee he'd keep his aspirations SIMPLY...

Re: Is Chuck wrong about Neelix?

I think Chuck's wrong to automatically hate Neelix's very PRESENCE. When not written to be a shithead, Neelix could be perfectly competent in his position as morale officer, ambassador, advisor, etc. For instance, Chuck disagreed that Neelix should be at the meetings in Scorpion... but honestly he D...

Re: DIS: Vaulting Amition

I friggin' love this episode and that ending reveal, honestly. I know a lot of fandom had called it, but personally I didn't notice the hints that other people had spotted, like changing the coordinates before they jumped to the Mirror Universe. Him being more aggressive and not a typical Starfleet ...

Re: The X-Files: Humbug

Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose is one of the episodes I remember most back when I watched the show as a kid. I think what made it stick out to me even that young was his simple response to the murderer: "You do the things you do because you're a homicidal maniac." Sometimes there isn't some vast cons...

Re: DS9 "The Reckoning"

Personally, I enjoyed the episode. Aside from just the really good character dynamics throughout the episode, I really enjoyed the effects work on battle between the two forces - great makeup on Jake and got to agree on the contact lenses for Kira making her look stunning. Sisko getting launched as ...

Re: Return of The Jedi

There's also simply the practical and symbolic matter of your giant support vessel getting blown up like it did - seeing that kind of destruction could appear to them to mean "Oh, shit, the rebels are doing much better than it looks, we should fall back and regroup." As for what it means to the Empi...

Re: Areas where you'd respectfully disagree with Chuck

Also keep in mind that that Empress Hoshi has a 100 years of advances stored on her ship in the databanks. One nice thing about Federation ships, they keep historical data on almost everything. So she was probably able to give the Terran Empire a huge leg up in R&D. Presuming she's able to get Mirr...

Re: Justice League Unlimited 'Question Authority'

Going to disagree with Chuck on something - I always interpreted Hamilton's intense breathing and exhaustion afterwards not because of his intense fear of Superman and surviving that encounter, but rather because of the emotional baggage of now confessing to someone whom he once considered a friend ...
