Re: TOS - Bread & Circuses

Kicking off this week's discussion with perhaps an obvious observation: seems like this episode would have been better if it were reworked into a showcase for the Romulans. I mean, Trek already had a "Romans but in space" antagonist, why not use them instead of doing another "parallel earth" thing?...

Re: Star Trek: Lower Decks

More effective nostalgia baiting than the whole of Season one of Picard. I was wondering when they were going to pull the trigger of using audio cameo to bring back a legacy character. (I low key don't count John De Lancie popping in a few weeks back, because c'mon, that was just him doing the same ...

Re: Star Trek: Lower Decks

I honestly don't know where the fandom has been at with lower decks. I have been enjoying it for the most part. I have had some minor quibbles, (Boimler is long overdue for an unambiguous win,) but it's been good. I have especially liked the relationship between Beckett and Freeman, it has some inte...

Re: TNG - Devil's Due

I think this was actually set for Phase II, being one of two story concepts recycled as TNG episodes from that scrapped series. The other of course being the child. as for a Trek connection that calls forward, Picard has a line "We have to out-con the con artist." That is just, such a Janeway line t...

Re: VOY: "Nightingale"

I don't disagree, it is rather cringe. Nevertheless the question now turns as to ''why'' this plot turned out so badly. After all, it is a perfectly reasonable development that someone with literally ZERO social skills due to spending most of his life as a pod baby and ZERO meaningful interaction w...

Re: VOY: "Nightingale"

No-one: Chuck: "Studies have shown that judges are more lenient at the beginning of their careers and the start of the day because decision making is inherently stressful and that's why Neelix is stupid". Sorry, but I do wonder if any other character, on any other show, had made the same remark Nee...

May I ask how you do this?

Re: Kathleen Kennedy says there's no source material for Star Wars

Yeah, in the 90's there was a clear difference between how Star Wars and Star Trek handled the ancillary material. In Star Trek non of the novels were ever canon to any degree at all. But in Star Wars, they were a kind of canon, subordinate to the films, but still official and interconnected. And it...
