Re: SG1 Absolute Power
I haven't managed to find that scene anywhere (apparently it's on the season's DVD?), but I can see why it was removed from the final episode: it basically creates a massive plot hole by suggesting that the Jaffa can also use Goa'uld technology that was designed to only be operated by a "God"... so...

Re: The final countdown.
It's probably safe to say that the visuals from this film (released in 1980) were a significant influence on Super Dimension Fortress Macross (1982). With the Macross itself basically being an aircraft carrier (that transforms into a giant robot), and the Valkyrie fighters (also transforming into gi...

Re: Escaflowne: Eternal Love
I was kind of waiting for Chuck to realize that Emperor Dornkirk = Isaac Newton. - Came from Earth. - Was named "Isaac". - Discovered a little thing called gravity. - In the first episode, school offhandedly teaches Hitomi that Isaac Newton was a looney who turned to metaphysics later in life. I'm n...

Dean's behavior gets better and the show really does explore him putting on show of machismo. This is what I was going to post. Dean's cartoonishness is a facade, but it doesn't really drop, because Dean *lives* that facade. Sam & Dean's father lived a normal life until his saw his wife get killed ...

It’s just as well the review told me that was Elon, as I wouldn’t have guessed otherwise. A blond ponytail? That's a holdover from the "Real Ghostbusters" cartoon. In the original movie, the four main characters all have black hair, one of them is Black, and all four are wearing identical jumpsuits...

And why did Vigo had to have Dana's baby? Couldn't he have had Janosz steal a baby from an orphanage, that way no one would have learnt about his plan? Janosz was creeping on Dana at the start of the movie, and he knew she had a baby. Vigo turned Janosz into a servant, and demanded a baby. Janosz's...

Re: Rick and Morty: The Hypothesis of Contradiction
Is this in the right topic thread G-Man? Nostalgia Critic and RLM were namedropped on the first page as examples of (like Rick) "they're right because they're cynical". For NC, I would say that Doug was never a good critic, he was just in the right place at the right time, cashing in on endless nos...

Re: DIS - Such Sweet Sorrow, Part 2
I'm not sure if the Alex Kurtzman situation is entirely understood (despite some groups attempting to paint him as the cancer behind everything that's wrong with modern Trek). I won't say he's a good writer, but the writing on Bayformers 1&2 was very much dominated by Michael Bay, and it never got a...

Re: Short Treks: Children of Mars
Something I've bumped into several times recently (on youtube) is people saying "I refuse to watch a review of an episode that's longer than the episode itself." And one of the reviewers I was watching said (paraphrased) "Well there's just so much to talk about here. Let's put it this way. Have you ...

Huh, what I HAVE seen of the Viz dub didn't look too bad. Admittedly, I WAS watching it on Hulu, so that could be a factor. Nah, you just didn't notice (which is fine). The Hulu stream is the exact same thing as the Bluray release, but the Bluray has a higher bitrate (streaming bandwidth costs mone...
