Re: VOY - Unforgettable
This episode shows why I've always pitied Neelix rather than hated him: The character could have worked, could've been a rather fun and interesting part of the cast.... but the writers kept insisting on writing him in the most obnoxious way possible.

...so why couldn't they use the universal translator for the greeting?

Re: TNG - Galaxy's Child
Random brainwave I had while watching this review: the reveal that Leah was married could've been work in a bit better if they had Leah explain--possibly while apologizing for her earlier behavior--that it was her wedding anniversary and she was just about to leave to meet her husband for their vaca...

Re: TNG - 11001001
When I watched this, I found the moment where Picard and Riker go to the weapons room to be unintentionally funny. Because with the dramatic music combined with the shot of the sign on the door, you'd think that they're going to arm up with some heavy-duty firepower, but instead they come out with t...

Re: TOR Bounty Hunter
Incidentally, very early on in the game's development, the bounty hunter and smuggler classes were going to have their own "underworld" faction separate from the Republic and Sith, but it ended up getting dropped at some point for reasons I don't think have ever been made clear.

Re: DIS - Project Deadalus
I'm still confused why they thought giving Spock a half-sibling never seen or mentioned before would be a good idea. I mean...they do remember how well that went over in The Final Frontier, right? Wouldn't it have made more sense for Michael to have been Sarek's apprentice or some such thing? The w...

Re: MST3K The Show
As far as Joel era episodes, I Accuse My Parents has always been one of my favorites, not only due to the amusing Truck Farming short beforehand, but also from him and the bots getting so much mileage from the main character being an empty headed dolt for basically the entire movie. That's my favor...

Re: Pacific Rim Review
I admit, I was very underwhelmed by Pacific Rim. Chuck described the characters as "broad strokes", but unlike him, I didn't feel like they were "alive". They mostly felt like wet cardboard cutouts spouting off lines that were trying too hard to be cool. Outside of Mako, I couldn't tell you what any...

Re: SW The Old Republic: Sith Warrior
Vette's facepalm while the Warrior brags about it is pure comedic gold.mathewgsmith wrote: ↑Thu Jun 06, 2019 8:04 pm The Lord Gratham quest is even better as a man. Seducing his wife before his body is even cold just adds that final black comedy touch to push it over the edge. Even Baras gets a laugh out of it.

Re: Doctor Who: Utopia, Sound of Drums and Last of the Timelords
At the time the episode first crossed my timestream, it seemed decent enough for new Who... but now finally having seen The Master from the 80s, this regeneration seems just way off the mark. Definitely happy to see more Who is coming soon! I'm not sure I would call it "way off the mark" since Time...
