Re: TNG - The Emissary
I liked the setup for what was basically a contrast in ideology between Worf and K'Ehleyr, but it never really gets resolved. They part ways more/less promised to each other, but we don't get any payoff until Worf has been effectively ex-communicated from Klingon society and he needs motivation to g...

Re: Rick and Morty: The Hypothesis of Contradiction
You're entirely right. On thinking about it more I do wonder though how much the 'parasocial relationships' angle played a part. The mandated Channel Awesome crossovers pushed a certain atmosphere hard, both with the films, and the more regular reviews, and I suspect did a lot to draw in those who ...

Re: B:TAS Baby-Doll
I do wonder what would be going through his mind if this were a real world standing there holding this 30 year old woman trapped as a child up by her dress in one hand. On the one hand he'd have more trouble not hurting her than beating her but on the other she's as chuck said another mirror to his...

Re: Rick and Morty: The Hypothesis of Contradiction
Rick and Morty is basically Bojack Horseman for pseudo-intellectuals, except funnier. The issue is that both have a bad habit of trying to juxtaposition jokes with drama. An example is in "The ABC's of Beth", where a life-and-death situation for a father falsely accused of murdering his own son is c...

Re: DIS - Such Sweet Sorrow, Part 2
Can we let the spore drive die That was the stupidest thing Trek ever came up with, even dumber than interstellar cetaceans and transwarp amphibians. Why did anyone think that was a good idea in the first place? Honestly I see the appeal but once you made it a prequel we know that it will have to b...

Re: VOY - Equinox
In terms of what I would do differently, I would have had the Equinox tag along with Voyager, but confined Ransom to quarters and put Chakotay in charge of the second ship. Obviously, crews would be smaller and both ships wouldn't be operating at 100%, but it would at least give them an extra gun at...

Re: The Orville Marathon
I came in after "About A Girl" and heard about it from word-of-mouth, so I have no personal investment. Maybe, in the future, I'll catch The Orville in its entirety as a series. For now, though, I will say what little of it I did see, I mostly enjoyed. The series definitely feels Trek-y. The first p...

Re: I Believe In You
@Slash Gallagher: I don't think you allow an impasse on "free speech". You do gotta draw the line when it stumbles into the territory of propaganda and/or a "call to arms", and I think that's where it needs to end. Now, as to how it should be defined as either, that's really going to come down to th...

Re: Any areas you passionately agree with Chuck on?
I think it's something of a moral quandary as to when/how one should interfere vs when is it a detriment if they do The moral quandary is ONLY in Classic Trek and Orville. Usually interference makes things worse BUT if non-interference = genocide, then Interference = the Moral act. It is not a mora...

Re: I Believe In You
Two million women and girls. Two million. And those guilty got away with it. That right there is the international symbol for, "There is no justice on this wretched Earth, you gotta take what you can get." Sorry to jump in and ruin your fear-mongering, but that's really unfair to the rest of the wo...
