Re: SW The Old Republic: Sith Warrior
As I recall his argument was that for anything you'd trust a slave with a droid would do it better and cheaper, and they rebel much less often. So now I'm thinking about this, since it's kinda an interesting question. (The presumed actual answer is "slaves are a concept almost everyone GETS, unders...

Re: Dial C for Comedy
I've found JourneyQuest to be a pretty consistently funny fantasy webseries, though it's a bit slow at first. The first three seasons are available for free from the creators at: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLB600313D4723E21F and they're currently kickstarting a fourth season, so with any ...

Re: ENT - Stigma
Emotions are the impulses that drive us, the source of motivation. Without emotions, there's no motivation to do anything. Data, or the hypothetical Paperclip Maximizer, may not have human emotions, but they must have some impulse driving them, otherwise they wouldn't be taking any actions. I agree...

Re: ENT - Stigma
The problem with Chuck''s outrage here is that Bigots always view themselves as the ones thinking logically and us as the ones blinded by emotion. Any position concerning morals and ethics and values is ultimately an emotional one. And because they're the things that make life worth living they're ...

Re: What's the last book you've read?
I quite enjoyed J Zachary Pike's "Orconomics", and it's sequel "Son of a Liche"; I found the style to be quite similar to Pratchett's and the plot almost seems like something Terry would have come up with

Re: Is DISCO season 2 worse than one of the first 2 ENT seasons?
My vote's for STD being worse than ENT. While ENT was often stupid, morally repugnant, and poorly written, it was undeniably a coherent story (granted, the story was contrived, the characters moronic, etc... BUT, it was a clear and internally consistent story). On the other hand, STD's season 2 plot...

Re: The Orville
I'm really enjoying the Orville, I think it's maturing quite nicely. The surprise ending genuinely got me (not something that happens often), I'm looking forward to see the conclusion. I really hope they get a third season, the writing may not be spectacular, but it's leagues ahead of the incomprehe...

Re: The Mandalorian
I'm cautiously optimistic for this one. With any luck it'll be what I felt the Solo film should have been: the adventures of a figure in the Star Wars underworld (albeit with a bounty hunter in place of a smuggler).
