Iron wombs baby is what brought Khan into the picture. I am pretty sure that sort of tech most likely was outlaw on earth and they went back to naturual couple. Plus at some point you still need the material. how many artificial birth can happen before their a breakdown in the gene.

The only way the ending makes sense is if the whole film took place on Liberty Island remember how far in the future we are speaking about and how coastline tend to change.
