Re: Star Wars, Highly Illiogical Captain
I'll just add that personally I would've found it much more interesting and fruitful for storytelling to have Finn be an average upstanding citizen who joined the military. Then later have him at some point face his family and former friends who think he's a traitor, but haven't seen the things he h...

Re: Star Wars, Highly Illiogical Captain
I remembered another thing that bugs me about Force Awakens, and I admit this is more of a personal annoyance than a general problem: The First Order taking children to raise them to become soldiers. This seems like an excessively wasteful method compared to drafting and training adults. The only re...

Re: TOS: A Taste of Armageddon
My biggest question is why the hell the Computer decided that one side would open fire on a neutral third party ship of a nation that could easily glass both planets if they felt like it. I can understand why the people follow it, they've been doing it for hundreds of years after all. It'd be like ...

Re: SG-1: Serpent's Song
This episode stuck to my mind for pretty much all the reasons Mister Sonnenburg mentioned. It's not a critical part of any major storyline, but the concepts and characters it explores elevate it to one of the best episodes. Honestly, to me the "You know he has a sarcophagus" bit is the weakest part ...

Re: The Bladerunner 2049 thread (SPOILER ALERT)
I didn't realise Luv shed tears when killing, I have no idea what that is about. The most common interpretation I've seen to that is she has no choice but to follow Wallace's orders, but she doesn't enjoy it. Which doesn't fit at all with how she acts willingly sadistic at several points in the film.

Re: The Bladerunner 2049 thread (SPOILER ALERT)
I like how the film starts out, it almost feels like a cold open, just Ryan Gosling doing his job as a Bladerunner. I kind of like how the film just accepts Ridley Scott's 'Deckard is a replicant' idea from the get go. Now it's common knowledge that all Bladerunners are replicants or something. I d...

Re: The CW DC "universe" (Smallville, Flash, Arrow, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow, Black Lightning)
I watched some of Arrow, and I kept constantly thinking: Why are they doing everything they can to turn Green Arrow into Batman? Why is this not an actual Batman show?

Re: Weird that there are no ethnonationalist mutants in X Men?
I mean, outside of the most drug-fueled fever dreams of Jerry Falwell, a gay person isn't going to spontaneously combust and destroy a high school, killing everyone inside. Even the most flaming of gay people can't do that. But it's quite common with mutants who can't control their powers. Normal h...

Re: Star Wars, Highly Illiogical Captain
Just as a personal opinion, I would have liked to see the roles reversed from the original trilogy between the good guys and bad guys in The Force Awakens. Make the First Order an underground movement that engages in guerrilla warfare, while the New Republic is is the superpower of the galaxy. Any ...
