Re: Short Treks: Children of Mars
This is one of the few reviews I really disagree with Chuck on. He brings up a lot of valid points (and I'll re-watch later and go more in-depth) but in terms of setting the tone, I think it worked phenomenally well. While yes, perhaps the late 24th century could have something better than a combina...

Chuck is spot-on. About the most interesting thing that happened is a Zat got fired.

Re: Nerdy Deep Dive: Order 66
I would just say that we have nothing like the Jedi in the modern world and thus comparisons are quite hard. As another posted posited a while back, the Jedi do not practice intangible faith (to outsiders, I consider my personal faith to be very tangible, but someone who doesn't believe as I do, wou...

Re: Atlantis: 38 minutes.
In terms of the episode itself, I think one thing that could have helped it, would be to not have shown any external space shots. Let the audience figure out what happened along with the characters. Chuck even points this out in TNG's "Genesis," vs "Timescape" that the latter is far more effective, ...

Re: Areas where you'd respectfully disagree with Chuck
Oh sh#% I remember something! So there's an episode of Voyager where the aliens have some sort of bridging of body tissue over their mouths. Chuck calls is nonsensical because traits tend to have a purpose suggested in principles of adaptation in the theory of Evolution. Just that, when I was watch...

Re: Areas where you'd respectfully disagree with Chuck
Yeah but... why is the metal now ''softer'' thanks to the system having less power? What does that actually mean in practical terms? I'm with Chuck. It seems damn contrived that the hull could take enough damage to become ''soft'' as in ''have a whole system that is weaved into the hull break down ...

Rise of the Federation - more books?
Hello everyone, I'm not nearly as connected with the fandom as I used to be, but over the past several years, I've been following the Rise of the Federation book series and really enjoy the series overall. Has anyone heard if there is going to be a book beyond book 5, "Patterns of Interference" from...

Re: Areas where you'd respectfully disagree with Chuck
One nitpicky thing I disagree with is in Broken Bow, Chuck makes a big deal about the crew saying "hull plating offline" in that hull plating is a physical thing and being "offline" means "broken." I disagree, while yes, that is by definition what that phrasing means, throughout Enterprise, I always...
