Re: SGA: Allies-No Man's Land-Misbegotten

OK, so when Chuck is talking about the possible outcomes and how probably the only method conceivable for peace is changing the Wraith so they don't need to feed on humans, and then he says "but what about the opposite?" how in the ever-loving what does he completely skip the thought of changing hum...

Re: Incredible Part 4

Bruce's abuse at the hand of his father is a very, very mixed bag for me. On the one hand, some of the best stories from before Planet Hulk (which is also a very, very mixed bag for me) deal directly with his mental health struggles... on the other hand, these are comic books. So a lot of misinforme...

Re: Another Flip for Dominick

So, for a minute I thought maybe the future was polyamorous, but no, apparently it just doesn't count as cheating if you time travel.

Re: DIS - Through the Valley of the Shadow

Seeing someone with mobility issues in Star Trek, speaking as someone with mobility issues, does not offer me representation. It just depresses me that even in fiction there is no escape of the prison of my malfunctioning flesh. I don't want to turn on tv and see someone in a wheelchair on a spaces...

Re: DIS - Through the Valley of the Shadow

I usually avoid discussions of Discovery because it makes me just... extremely tired. I had to drop Chuck's reviews of the series because they're, frankly, upsetting. And before you chime in with "Well, what about Voyager and Enterprise? Those reviews could get really angry, too!", yes, I feel the s...

Re: SG-1: Inauguration

All very good points. You've given me a lot to mull over, and have definitely shown me a new perspective on this I hadn't previously considered. I'm not sure I entirely agree, but I do see your points, and I think I have at least a little better of an understanding of an opposing view now. Thank yo...

Re: SG-1: Inauguration

Fair enough :-) I can't speak for anyone other than myself on this, and everyones attitude will differ, but in retrospect I can see things through your eyes and understand your take on it. I still feel as I have said about it, though I would probably never have noticed if they hadn't had Kinsey as ...

Re: SG-1: Inauguration

I can see both myself and an atheist watching the show and seeing the SGC and other characters as representatives of both of us, I just think the atheist will have an easier time of it, seeing the show as an army of science bringing reason to a galaxy in the grips of superstition. And don't misunde...

Re: SG-1: Inauguration

As someone who is a Christian and a fan of the genre and the show I found it very annoying that with only two exceptions off the top of my head (the medieval world with the Unas serving as a demon, and an episode in early season 9 where a reference was made to a belief that just because the Ori wer...

Re: SG1: Heroes

There's very little truth to be found in absolute silence. The problem I have with the secrecy is not the mere fact that there are secrets, but with the totality of the secrets, and with the way it is treated as unassailable dogma. The issue as I see it, is that the possibility of ever revealing the...
