Re: Kurama vs. Poison Ivy (Any Incarnation)

To take the kind of meta PoV on this, Kurama's deal is that he is an ancient fox spirit who has lived for so long that he has transcended the demonic nature of being a fox spirit and attained humanity. This had the cost of reducing his learned abilities but preserving his innate nature. Poison Ivy i...

Re: A Look at Idiocracy

And for no good reason? The US was attacked at its heart and the American people went house cleaning. I'm a bloody Canadian and as a teen I knew that. I saw the towers burning that day and said "I don't care who is behind this, Saddam's days are numbered". If you don't understand that and don't see...

Re: Bounty Hunters for Abortions

To go with the Christ allegory. That he was a humble working man from the salt of the Earth who loved and forgave. The loud, rich Christians are not in line with him. Nor are the warmonger Christians, which they've had for several centuries by this point. The acts of the apostles and church founder...

Re: A Look at Idiocracy

Judge has a knack for that. King of the Hill can be taken as a straight up satire mocking Midwestern conservatives, but it can also be seen as a validation of their principles. Hank Hill is an annoying guy, but he's a decent everyone would love to have for a neighbour even if you'd always be eye ro...

Re: A Look at Idiocracy

I suppose the idea was to try to work out a test that relied on intelligence rather than knowledge. I think the harder thing is designing a test of general intelligence instead of any particular set of skills. Skills can be much more easily instilled into someone than general intelligence, probably.

Re: A Look at Idiocracy

Also, I gotta say that IQ is useless. IQ itself was created by eugenicists to prove that certain types of people were better than others, and you get radically different results just by repeating the test at different times. Actually, IQ was invented so special needs children could be identified an...

Re: Sfdebris fallout 3

I can think of twological reasons why the East coast would end up so much worse than the West: (1) more bombs were dropped there in order to target the government/military infrastructure, and (2) it's much more densely populated than the rest of the country, so even amongst the survivors, the raide...

Re: Sfdebris fallout 3

Fallout 76 had all the building blocks to be a great game. It only had two major issues: The fanbase wanted Fallout 5 and Todd doesn't seem to understand that you only ever get one first impression in life. Many fans did not wait for the game to be fixed and why should they? Fallout 76 is the Fallo...

Re: Sfdebris fallout 3

Bethesda (Or rather, Todd) prefers to produce the image of Fallout rather than what it is. They think Fallout is post-apoc ruin, super mutants, dark humour, graphic body dismemberment, etc. That the world was built by Black Isle to be a living developing one despite the oddities was lost on them. T...

Re: Americas Middle Class Massacre *sobs*

The Mesopotamians were using money 7000 years ago. We have found actual accounts that detail the goods traded. Sounds like capitalism to me. Any difference between that and today sounds like splitting hairs frankly. If has money is all that's needed to be capitalism, then by your own definition com...
