Re: Regarding Tolerance

Up to a point. There's such a thing as too much tolerance; we lock up criminals rather than tolerate their activities for the easy extreme end example. I don't see any moral issue with not tolerating certain groups, and not tolerating them does not mean becoming them. Nazis keep getting brought up ...

Up to a point. There's such a thing as too much tolerance; we lock up criminals rather than tolerate their activities for the easy extreme end example. But that's not an example. Tolerance only requires acknowledging that they have the same rights that you do. You do not have the right to criminal ...

Re: Regarding Tolerance

Remember, tolerate only means that you acknowledge that this person has the same rights that you do. It doesn't mean that you have to like them, support them, hang out with them, or vote for them. All it requires is that you acknowledge their rights. And yes, anyone who starts denying rights to Com...

Re: Woman arrested for shooting the ex-husband who attacked her

Unless there's more to the story it's arrested, not convicted. Someone's died and whenever that happens it really should get a proper investigation, which will have to include arresting the person who did it. Whether or not there's an injustice or not depends upon what happens next.

Lockpicking 101
Step 1: Get a power drill.
Step 2: Place drill in front of lock you wish to pick.
Step 3: Drill through the lock.
That would be noisy though. May as well kick the door in :D

Re: A confession - I'm never voting again

Voting like jury duty. Do it or don't. But if you don't then you do no have the right to complain about issues. Not really, it depends why you don't vote. Too disgusted by a choice that's no real choice? Voting only helps legitimise that situation, although it's probably better to spoil your ballot...

Re: The Myth of Scarcity

More specifically, survival of the fittest. The strong live and the weak die. That's how the world boils down to. What makes us different from the animals when it comes to that natural instinct is that we have higher capacities. We are capable of doing better but that's a choice. Even when doing th...

Re: The Myth of Scarcity

Me, I'm the 21st Century equivalent of a Nationalist Whig (that is, the Henry Clay and John Q. Adams views of the 1820s-1850s). I'm all for government involvement in the economy, especially in areas that are of importance to the nation, so long as it doesn't extend to control. ;) Extra taxes on hom...

Re: Brexit Rambles

The people who you're talking about are the likes of Jacob Rees-Mogg and the ERG, not the EU. There are huge issues with government within the UK too. This isn't a one side or the other issue. Stop playing the both sides line. I beg your pardon? What playing both sides? It isn't Westminster on one ...

Re: Brexit Rambles

Racism and Xenophobia are valid to bring up if they are possible or present motivations for part of the brexit movement. Somebody can say "that seems kinda racist" or "this xenophobic group is pro-brexit" and you can argue the merits of whether it is xenophobic or racist or not. Saying that accusat...
