Re: "Researchers have developed a Very Big Disc™ that can store up to 200 terabytes of data..."

DVDs and Blu Rays are a digital format in the first place. I've still got a large pile of DVDs and Blu Rays, I haven't found it worth the time to copy those. I think the difference with them and music is (beside the file sizes and time taken to rip) that whilst I'll frequently listen to the same mus...

Re: CDC gives up on 5-day isolation

Been no rules about Covid here for ages, and that doesn't seem to have caused a problem.

Re: "Researchers have developed a Very Big Disc™ that can store up to 200 terabytes of data..."

For anything I'm likely to watch more than once I prefer to have my own copy than stream it. With music I'm usually listening to it off the HDD (streaming just for the odd bit), I'd prefer LPs if I had somewhere for a decent setup - there's something about the whole package there that feels special ...

The Willow series never got one, just to keep it Disney+. I'm still pissed about that, it wasn't anything great but I liked it in a comfort show kind of way.
I was looking forward to seeing it some day just as a bit of nostalgia for the original film.

Re: Hamas Attacks Israel

Based on this account, it seems more like an accident than a deliberate massacre. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/israeli-forces-fire-on-crowds-surrounding-gaza-aid-trucks/ar-BB1j67Cs?ocid=socialshare Whilst I can believe it could be an accident I also don't find it too hard to believe that Is...

Re: "Researchers have developed a Very Big Disc™ that can store up to 200 terabytes of data..."

I think it’s more a matter of mobility and practical consumption. Anywhere your device is you can just type a url to play. Just the effort of getting the disc out of the jacket and needing to load it is superfluous. That amount of effort is also negligible, so it's a bit disturbing if that's seen a...

Re: Trans Women and comedy that punches down

I am going to point out most British comedy falls flat on American ears for the most part. There is exceptions to that but 95-99% of your comedy is different from ours. Culture differences. Take for the example the differences between the two The Office shows. The American version tried in it's fir...

Re: Frozen Embyros

As someone mentioned earlier part of the problem here is that this wasn't even a case of chucking, it was a mistake which resulted in embroys lost, a result no-one wanted.

Is the morning after pill illegal in some parts of the USA?

Re: Allegory in Science Fiction

You push a message too far, you make it too blindingly obvious, and you take a very extreme, one-sided, self-righteous approach to it and you're going to get a backlash (which inevitably results whinging about the people who called you out on that in turn, frequently with a large chunk of hypocrisy)...
