Re: Section 31 trailer
I saw a comment somewhere (maybe it was on this Youtube video but I don't remember) that the people running Star Trek these days seem to think Section 31 is like the CIA when it's really something else altogether.

Re: What changes would you make to Star Trek Discovery?
No offense but doesn't that fall under, "In no way shape or form does it resemble Star Trek: Discovery?" I always feel like you "lose" these games if you make something unrecognizable from the original. I think this depends on an individual's perspective on the original. If someone thought the orig...

Re: Update: Chimney 3, Chuck 0
A few years ago I bought a piano from a place in Stevens Point and the story about buying the mattress reminded me of it in almost every way. Laughing at this and inspired, I pulled up Google Maps to see if I could figure out where Les' store was and I'm about 99% sure based on the photos of the pla...

Re: Discussing Energybending in Avatar and How You Would Write It
I really have no problem with energy bending as it's used in TLA. It's like blood bending in that it is a very particular ability which requires a true master to really pull off. If anything, I have much, much more of a problem with Ty Lee's ability as far as something being overpowered is concerned...

Re: Changes Made That You See as an Improvement in the Disney Live-Action Remakes
I'm not a person who really agrees with the general criticism (not that it's per se been offered here) that the remakes are too close to beat for beat remakes of the originals. For one thing, I don't think they are that close to the originals in many ways, but for another, even if they were I would ...

Re: Korra - Season 3
I have very mixed feelings about Korra. It's generally looked on rather poorly and in most ways I don't agree with the standard criticisms that you'll see. I think the series is a lot better than it's given credit for. On the other hand... I also think there is a fundamental problem with The Legend ...

Re: VOY - Equinox
Watching the re-post of this episode, it really does a good job of driving home the most significant problem with Janeway, and as I get older I realize more and more that she's the biggest reason I don't generally want to watch Voyager very often. Actually, the degree to which I enjoy Voyager really...

Re: Strange New Worlds
I think the idea of "normalized" friends with benefits or a marriage (or at least commitment) free future are very far off base and for many compounding reasons. One is that human beings are evolved/designed (I never know what verb to use for this sort of thing) to raise children in committed pairs....

Re: The Lesbians in "Lightyear"
I think there are a few things to consider about this whole topic. One is that I think people in the "progressive" camp (for lack of a better term) need to acknowledge/accept that there really is a sizable population of people who are unhappy to see LGBT themes in films. On the other hand, I think p...

Re: Batman 66 WAS Bad Actually.
I disagree that it was bad, and yes its accessibility to kids is a part of that, but it's deeper than this. Let's start with this: when I was growing up (in the 80s, not the 60s), this WAS Batman to me. There was nothing else other than the SuperFriends or whatever cartoon it was that I remember. I...
