Re: Strange New Worlds Season 2

So how soon until we get to Those Old Scientists? AKA the best episode of all of Star Trek ever.

The actor was a bad fit for the role, although the role itself was outdated by that point too. I know it was similar to Marcus, but Marcus' actor was so full of personality and just sheer charm.

Re: TNG: Sins of the Father

Carol Marcus absolutely had an issue with Kirk being in David's life. It is in the dialogue of the movie, explicitly. "I did what you wanted, I stayed away". Kirk says that directly to Carol's face, and she does not disagree with that at all. Kirk was absent from David's life because Carol wanted hi...

Re: For All Mankind

If 9/11 were foiled, the War on Terror would proceed regardless. I'll quibble on that point only, and in a limited way, the war in Afghanistan would not have happened. We'd have skipped straight to the war in Iraq phase, which was George Bush Jr's preferred war all along. That is just because he ha...

Re: Babylon 5: The Gathering/Midnight on the Firing Line

Repeated German incursions of course would be one of the major factors in the eventual fall of the Western Empire, so that one sneak attack would have effects lasting centuries. That's sort of unfair given the Roman Empire lasted literal centuries after their defeat at Teutoburg Forest. Admittedly ...

Re: TNG: Sins of the Father

Picard in his prime would kick Archer's ass without breaking a sweat. Archer sucked anytime it came to fisticuffs. Hell I'd give even Harry Kim a chance against him. I tend to agree. I'd argue however, that Picard met something that drained fighter-levels somewhere between the Nausicaan's stabbing ...

Re: The Elysian Kingdom (SNW)

Was Kira really clear on that distinction, by the end? She might have started with the latter, mostly, but after her "yeah, who would do that Damar" moment and Damar's apparently sincere reflection on the matter and personal growth, I'm not certain even Kira herself honestly knew.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o65SkXZni9c A really great episode though.... Worf picking Picard over Riker is kinda odd Riker's already versed in Klingon culture, is established to be Worf's trusted friend and Ya know is actually in the shape to be the guy fighting knife armed deathmatch's Worf k...

Re: TNG: The Survivors

Picard did the cruellest thing to punish him anyway. He broke the fantasy. Uxbridge can make and remake his wife all he wants, but now he knows that Picard knows that he knows. That it is just a fantasy, and he can never now pretend it isn't. In the end, that is probably the harshest punishment poss...

Re: Babylon 5: The Gathering/Midnight on the Firing Line

Sinclair's rules lawyer, know-the-rule-book, character trait would have worked better with the rebellion against Earth. Sheridan was the type of "hero" character that was always gonna take up arms against Clarke because it is the sort of thing that that type of character does. Sinclair, weighing the...
