Re: Why is Korra's Final Relationship so Popular? (Spoilers Allowed))
In addition to just being good overall, but just the fact it happened for those who had been force fed terrible romances their whole lives and told these were OK but two girls weren't, i mean loom at Aang, he managed to be the biggest creep in TLA because he didn't just hit on a girl, he kissed her ...

Re: The issues of Human centric stories in Sci-Fi and Fantasy works
@Actrus I know, but my point is that because his description of the orcs boiled down to Mongolian Arabs it leads to that as a result of the fact that again anyone who is different will become a stand in for generic otherness, they will fill in for any group not explicitly shown as being with the her...

Re: The issues of Human centric stories in Sci-Fi and Fantasy works
[quote Wait I don't get why this is. One of the little lies media tells us is that it wasn't everyone who was bad, or even most, it's used to avoid reminding the masses their ancestors were evil, it's why the hero of a western will always either not come into conflict with race or will be shockingl...

Re: The issues of Human centric stories in Sci-Fi and Fantasy works
Non humans by default become allegory to otherness, just like no matter how much he didn't want them to Tolkien's orcs became allegory for non europeans ect, you cannot escape this you cannot prevent this, you must work with it, because in the end if any sentient species in your work is treated badl...

Re: The issues of Human centric stories in Sci-Fi and Fantasy works
Its a question of the fact that human audiences relate to human or humanoid characters more than the completely alien. the same thing is used to shout down inclusion of human diversity, so it's kind of a bad argument here when the point of my post is that the human centrist works are just low key b...

The issues of Human centric stories in Sci-Fi and Fantasy works
Starting with Star Wars, they really need to start putting more Aliens in the main casts the main enemies of the series are anti Alien Nazis this makes having humans as the central protagonists little more than a slightly less bad version of the white man's burden, and feeds into the false narrative...

Re: Carmen Sandiego (Netflix)
Should have gone with a Boxed crook setup where Carmen is forced to work for ACME after Ivy and Zack catch her, she then finds out VILE abandoned her and she has zero chance of ever escaping, first season is her learning to be a good person again by seeing that her crimes caused pain even if they di...

Re: Korra Season 2 Part 4
TBH I think it was good to have the first relationship fail, not only did it break cliches, it also set up both one of the most important moments in Cartoon history, plus showing Korra Mako and Asami having a friendly relationship after this is also important,

Re: The Legend of Korra Series Thread (Spoilers Allowed)
I hope the series keeps getting a steady flow of Reviews, it's one of the few things that get's them that i am familiar with and have no strong negative emotions about, so 2 eps or an arc a month til completion would be nice,
