Well Christina Aguilera has a 160 million dollar fortune and Brittney has 40 million. Britt is notably a regular performer and still popular.
Brittney had her life taken over by her estranged father to "protect her fortune" so either he's staggeringly incompetent or stealing from his daughter or both.

I have heard of that too. Her father had plenty of time to funnel Britney's money somewhere and hide it.
Reminds me of a few stories of child actors where when they turned 18 thinking they had millions turns out they had absolutely no money due to their parents.

I was surprised by that turnout. My only guess would be probably 2/5 of the difference is from investments Aguilera took part in with the rest being what you were saying.
