Texas Senate Passes Bill To Seize Control of Elections from Local Authorities

Post by ProfessorDetective »

"S.B. 1933 would allow the secretary of state — in Texas, a position appointed by the governor — to take over election administration and voter registration in Texas counties. The bill would specifically authorize this “administrative oversight” if an election complaint is filed with the secretary of state’s office and the secretary of state has “good cause to believe that a recurring pattern of problems with election administration or voter registration exists in the county.”"

So, Texas might be a complete write-off, now.

Is it that simple? For a single person to overturn an election. The Secretary of State can decide who wins? Is that what I am reading?
I got nothing to say here.

It seems to be? I assume there's a "Only CisHet-Republican-WASPs Need Apply" loophole/contingency in there, somewhere.

The GOP can't win elections so elections have to die.

Dropping their wildly unpopular policy positions for something voters actually support is apparently not an option.

Well shit. Really sucks to be Texan as if it wasn't hard enough already.
