I would give up a kidney if it meant AOC got to be president. The worst Democrat canddiate is better than the best Republican candidate.

Given that Biden's running again, 2028 would be the next one to look at.
Re: GOP first debate.
Gavin Newsom, CA governor, would be the front runner in 2028 from how things look right now. He'd be 61 for that election which wouldn't be that bad.

We really need to put age limits on these things
Re: GOP first debate.
35 is the min age. An upper age limit would require an act of congress or and an amendment which isn't happen sadly.

Politicians don't gain any benefit from promoting policies that hurt politicians. It doesn't matter how much the populace would desire it - no one backs those policies, so no one could potentially benefit from public support, and everyone else would gang up on them.
Pretty much all of the factionalisms the Founding Fathers relied upon in their design for the Republic have fallen through, and factionalisms they were worried about as well as ones they couldn't even have imagined dominate how things work now.

If your assessment were true, we'd still be running our archaic political iterations. We're largely not.Frustration wrote: ↑Sat Aug 26, 2023 8:22 pm Politicians don't gain any benefit from promoting policies that hurt politicians. He is correct somewhat. It's the reason why the US doesn't have age restrictions for it's politicians nor term limits. These two issues are very bipartisan among the US population. Usually to get rid of the other side's oldest and most experienced politicians but still.Madner Kami wrote: ↑Sat Aug 26, 2023 8:46 pmIf your assessment were true, we're still be running our archaic political iterations. Politicians would never put those restrictions on themselves. Pay raises for themselves? Yes, definitely.
I got nothing to say here.

I'm not sure what you mean by 'archaic political iterations'. There are all sorts of policies that hurt some politicians and benefit others - they're very quick to factionalize their 'reform' efforts.Madner Kami wrote: ↑Sat Aug 26, 2023 8:46 pm If your assessment were true, we're still be running our archaic political iterations.

Not really. I'd rather have someone like McCain with all of his faults that can bridge the two parties. I am not in favor of if you are not with me you are the enemy type of mindset that is happening lately.Fuzzy Necromancer wrote: ↑Sat Aug 26, 2023 5:25 pm I would give up a kidney if it meant AOC got to be president.
