That is not a cabinet post and that is not a real department, nor is Trump creating a new federal department. This is an advisory job with a joke name.

Whether it's a sinecure or one of the actually competent people in Trumpworld trying to get rid of him by giving the appearance of power and no actual power because Musk is to dumb to know the difference I don't know, both seem plausible.

Trump has no respect for the rule of law so official positions mean nothing. Part of this is demonstrated with the fact Trump appointed dozens of "acting" positions so it didn't require Congress or the Senate to approve them.

Well one of the things said is that they are going to find $2 trillion to trim off of the government budget. That is an incredibly high number and if they were serious they would actually cut in the roughly $5 trillion that actually directly puts money into people's accounts. Government pensions, Social Security, etc.
