And he's backed down on tariffs "for a month" lol.
This is all according to his expert negotiating and 4d chess playing skills and not at all due to the market turbulence. Nope - nuh-uh.
Donald Trump Reloaded!

Canada now isn't backing off. Also Canadians are not backing off either. Like removing American liquor from their shelves like Jack Daniels.clearspira wrote: ↑Thu Mar 06, 2025 8:29 pm And he's backed down on tariffs "for a month" lol.

That is my fear. The more Trump and his cronies get a hold of the government the more likely they will be able to control the elections. Like adding more votes or flipping votes as needed to win.Madner Kami wrote: ↑Wed Mar 05, 2025 9:22 am Which elections? If anything, he'll get 105% of the votes.

I still struggle to comprehend that so many people voted for this asshole TWICE. The depths of human evil are astonishing.

But at the same time it gets worse than that. Trump is doing what normal Republican politicians would not have dared to have done years prior. He is attacking the whole government and using an outside source to do it.
Sure, the government should get more efficient in how they handle things, sure we need a solution to actually reduce the national debt. But we all know that the cuts Elon is trying to make and the tax cuts to thd rich the Trump will want to make isn't going to decrease the debt. Just add to it.
What it really comes down to is echo chambers people make with their daily ingest of media. Right now Rights News Media is saying all the right things that will make a MAGA happy.
As far as I can see the only one concern they really do have is the VA. The Veteran Assistance. That is giving them legit pause right now. But that is it.
Nevermind the reduction of prices for the common man. Nah, we are expected to weather the worse before it gets better. But why should we?

Sometimes we do get things right this side of the pond. When Truss tried the "tax cuts to the rich" thing she was kicked out in pretty short order.McAvoy wrote: ↑Fri Mar 07, 2025 5:03 am

So the latest real estimation of Musk's hatchet job on the government has saved about $20 billion. While at the same time causing havok. Rehiring employees that they fired.Riedquat wrote: ↑Fri Mar 07, 2025 11:52 amSometimes we do get things right this side of the pond. $20 billion so far to help pay for the estimated $4 trillion for tax cuts on the rich. All because decades ago Reagan came up with the idea of trickle down economics. Tax the poor and the middle class? Sure? Heaven forbid you tax the rich.

Speaking of the Tories, they made "savings" using very similar methods to Musk after the 2008 financial crash. They called it "Austerity". Everyone else called it "gutting the public sector".McAvoy wrote: ↑Sat Mar 08, 2025 1:57 amSo the latest real estimation of Musk's hatchet job on the government has saved about $20 billion. Thing is though, the pain wasn't really felt under David Cameron. It took about ten years for society to appreciate the horrific cumulative damage caused by this which is one of the things that got Labour in. So much of this country is on its ass as a direct consequence of what they did.
Sadly I think it'll probably be the same for you. What Trump is doing today you'll see reflected in the 2030s.
Re: Donald Trump Reloaded!
I'd dispute quite strongly that it was using very similar methods. There certainly wasn't the large element of personal political vendetta involved as is happening with Musk (not saying there wasn't, but this appears to be driven entirely by that).clearspira wrote: ↑Sat Mar 08, 2025 7:24 am Speaking of the Tories, they made "savings" using very similar methods to Musk after the 2008 financial crash. The damage was really a country living on the never never, that was never going to end well. Not saying it couldn't have been handled much better but the ultimate cause wasn't cutting spending, it was spending more than could ever have been afforded making some form of cuts at some point impossible to avoid. And the longer you try to kick the can down the road in those circumstances the worse the final pain is.Thing is though, the pain wasn't really felt under David Cameron. Did that idiot do the same thing with twitter, and have to undo it quickly because when you fire people who do important jobs, suddenly that job isn't going to get done.McAvoy wrote: ↑Sat Mar 08, 2025 1:57 amSo the latest real estimation of Musk's hatchet job on the government has saved about $20 billion.
