the DA should never have prosecuted marissa. I bet since he knew he could convict on a technicality he wanted another conviction under his cap for his political career

And this is why I think DA should be appointed, not elected. Election year, get tough on crime. So they try and bury any case they get ahold of.

Sure, though that's an extreme example. A much more likely outcome is that whoever does the appointing will make sure that the person they put there doesn't pay very close attention to whatever legal shenanigans the appointing party may have going on.

It's safe to say that both appointment and election come with problems. Different problems, sure, but they both have issues.
