Isn't this like a joke? Something like Bill Gates or the Illuminati has their own DMV.

I dunno. We have the exact same thing here in Texas.

I mean, the legislative staff of a huge state like Texas or California is...significant. It's pretty easy to justify putting in a small DMV office in the Capital.

The article states that the DMV serves former legislators not just those in office, and I assume only those from the state.

Huh. Well chalk this under "surprisingly mundane shadow government."

The one here in Texas serves anyone that goes to it...it's just that it isn't ever advertised to anyone except legislative staff. (and frankly, unless you have capital parking privileges, it's probably more of a bother than its worth)

I used to go to the one in the bottom of the State of Illinois building in Chicago - not much in the way of lines.

It is two people and it is by appointment. And apparently they collate most of the DMV data for the legislature to examine. Sounds more like they are a bit under staffed.

They also state wait times arn't reported so we have no idea if they are overworked.

I believe it said they did not have data on wait times because that system is not installed at their site. Meaning it does not have everything in all the DMV's. It probably should, but then people might be more upset that money was spent on what is basically a model DMV center to review information.
