Conversion Therapy is Still Legal in the USA
Just uh..reminding ya'll. If some parents want their little boy to get the faggotness purged from him by the power of the holy spirit in a camp in the middle of the desert far away from outside observation against his will, they can do that.

I'm wondering what precise psychological and/or legal constructs are being disregarded. Obviously people are fine using religion to both assess and fix the problem as they see it, but it seems easy to understand how abusive this comes off.

More so in the case of minors than in adults. If adults want to delude themselves into thinking they can somehow pray the gay way, I really don't much care. The ones I feel for are the kids that get sent off to the boot camp style "tough love" camps.

I know it's still legal. Mike Pence would love to make this law across the whole US.

Oh definitely. I was hoping that would be presumed in my post.

Mike Pence also claimed it "cured" him, which raises all sorts of red flags with me - if he's gay or actually bisexual.

I'd imagine it could be anything from experimenting in college to questioning his faith in God.

It is pretty ironic that the US will intervene in other countries to aid their ''freedom'' whilst at the same time allowing gay purges to take place.

It's always strange to me seeing the different groups and how they change from being anti- to pro-"America is the world police" and vice versa. Also how a group that claims to be pro-gay and women's rights has ended up allying itself with an ideology that is very much against both of those things to the point that they'll blindly accuse anyone who points this out of bigotry.

Yeah, we're not actually murdering gay people like Putin is. We're just torturing them. Not something to boast about, I know, but it's still a fine difference. And I'm someone who thinks we still have a long way to go with gay rights.
