I feel a need to butt in just a little, not for a correction but for just some added detail. This might be better understood as "scientists have known about the possibility of global warming for 105 years." Climate science is complicated, and in the 70s a lot of scientists were worried about global cooling due to coinciding aerosol pollution and the possible end of an inter-glacial period.

That said, even in the 70s most were predicting warming rather than cooling, and today's forecasts of warming rest on better science than the brief cooling fear did.
