Although, that isn't the dumbest thing ever. Most spiritualist sacrifices are of something valuable and, in the olden times, game animals like goats would be up there in value... alongside gold, gems, produce, furs, and (occasionally) people. So tofu would not be out of the question.

So, it's VERY unintentionally plausible.
