And what critical infrastructure on the public square do they command?

Straight people can afford to be straight? No that can't be it because there are many rich homosexuals and many poor heterosexuals.
Straight people are not proud of being straight the same way people are not proud of going to soup kitchens? No that can't be it because many people are proud of being straight.
Straight people are proud of being straight the same way people of proud of going to soup kitchens? No that can't be it either because no one is proud of having no money to the point of needing a soup kitchen.
It does not work. Imo this is one of those lines that sounds profound until you actually apply logic to it and then it isn't.
Straight people don't need a parade to help them be more accepted they already are. Rich people don't need free food they already have it.

Yeah Yeah I know they're arguing in bad faith but I had to try ya know?
I'm no stranger to being trolled especially on here but I dunno. I feel like I gotta try at least once. Call it trying desperately to see the good in people.
I am the one who requested Chuck review Kannazuki No Miko. (under an old alias)
I count it among the most despicable things I have ever done to another human being and I'm sorry.
Things I have requested that are not evil:
* Anna's Quest
* Contradiction
* TECHNOBABYLON

No, I meant 'they' as in 'this guy/gal/whatever'. YOU get it. Should have worded that better.

How is the system actively working against LGBTQ? Because transsexuals can't join the military? because men who sleep with men can't donate blood? Because Indiana Jones is straight?Rasp wrote: ↑Sun Jun 09, 2019 3:37 pmThe metaphor is about the inherent challenges one faces, that is the difference. And let me list the things society has given me for being straight:
OK, done.

Do regressives protest St. Patrick's Day parades because the Irish don't need a parade?

How is being proud to be Irish significant? That's accident of birth. Unless you changed your citizenship. Then that would be more logical.

Re: The Straight Pride Parade
Generally the public would be fine with it. In part for your very reasons on the next paragraph in that people generally will have pride in anything. As long as there's not overtly obscene vore demonstrations that are indicative of the orientation, then in principle it's not really violating any decency constructs. One parade with people wearing chaps in front of children isn't indicative of the homosexual orientation, for anyone concerned. And it doesn't matter if Yuka and others agree with Carlin that pride is stupid, that doesn't change the dynamic.Madner Kami wrote: ↑Sun Jun 09, 2019 11:41 amWhat do you think how people are going to react to Vore Pride Parades? Or Guro Pride Parades? Or let's be less extreme and say a Waifu Pillow Parade?BridgeConsoleMasher wrote: ↑Sun Jun 09, 2019 8:54 am That's... kinda nebulous, logically speaking.
Truth be told though, I love the analogy ProDet put forth.
People are giving the justifications for why gay pride parades are a thing all day, it tends to fall on deaf ears. So all I really care to say is that the dynamic of straight and homosexual orientations as they've been treated in society is quite different.

And how do you know those people don't like other historically Irish things?
They pretty much get to chose that identity in the US unless they are dirt poor.
