Arizona activist arrested for providing food and water to migrants along the border

It's incidents like this that make me scoff whenever somebody claims that border security measures are to protect migrants and asylum seekers, or even that they have their best interests at heart.

One possible logic chain:

1) Protecting people crossing the border illegaly means dissuading them from making the attempt on account of the dangers of trying to journey across open desert.
2) People leaving supplies for migrants are undermining this by encouraging them with that assistance.
3) Ergo, the responsible thing to do is to stop these supplies from being provided, lest they cause more people to cross the border.

Not that I expect this to be the reasoning instead of "dumb America-hating activist trying to let illegals into our country, probably so they can be registered as Democrats to steal elections".

Yeah its not. They exist to protect the United States, its citizens, and its interests

also those aren't asylum seekers, they are leaving their homes do to poverty, that makes them economic migrants.

Counter intuitive isn't it? Same deal with the boat people of the Med and SE Asia. When Italy and Australia shut their boarders fewer people drowned to death.

That was good decision from Jury not to convict him. It's going to be dark times if good deeds are punished.

I'd like to see that kind of thing happen when it comes to people getting brought in for giving food to homeless people, too.

@Mecha82 That's the world we live in, sadly. Humanitarian is punished and wicked vice is praised, more often than not.
