You know, you can inform guests about the shape of your baby's genitals by just putting pink or blue M&M's in a cake and cutting it, if you really have to. I've never heard of precious wildlife or housing being destroyed by M&Ms.

I mean, the entire "gender reveal party" thing is an attempt to be as cishet as possible. "This is OUR STRAIGHT BABY whose gender DEFINITELY MATCHES THE BIRTH SEX! Will this be a TRUCK DRIVER or a BALLERINA? Those are the only two categories into which people fit!"

And somehow they keep getting SO emphatic about it that they destroy forests.

Admit it, if lesbians or leather bar bisexuals had a pride parade or coming out party that took out a good chunk of national park land and several houses, TWICE, in the same way, you'd have heard about it by now.

I'm not sure if you're applying right wing "logic" to the dishonest here, but it never works. They love playing the game of "try and drag the Overton window farther right", and they're well aware of the game they're playing. They know that pride parades are no more sexual than Mardi Gras (often quite a bit less so). They know Gender Reveal parties with Tannerite is a death waiting to happen (I know it's a relatively safe explosive, but safe and explosive don't belong in the same ballpark, as the grandma hit by a piece of shrapnel at 75 feet could tell you - if the dead could talk). They know teenagers say stupid things, yet they'll hold up some 15 year old trans teen's blog as an example of "mainstream thought", and dismiss the right wing teenagers saying "we should run the liberals over with cars", even though the protest they were saying that at, one of them actually decided to go full terrorist and run liberals over with cars. Dishonesty.

It's just "drag the Overton window". That's the entire game, and you don't win by playing it. You win by kicking their legs out from under them. See, their fundamental problem is that they're dishonest and stupid. Jokes can't drag the Overton window anywhere, because they're fucking just there to be laughed at. No one takes them seriously. Alex Jones, for instance, can no longer move the Overton window, because his ranting after Sandy Hook is too wacky to for anyone inside the mainstream to go "well that's extreme, but valid." It's just crazy noise. Once they're just crazy noise, they can't do anything. They're just insane people on the internet, and we all have grown used to toning out crazy internet people.

You win by pointing out the fact they're a fucking joke, and then no one takes them seriously. You make them look every bit the joke they are. Then their dialogue is worthless. Your facts are unimpeachable. If you're mean to them, does anyone care? No, because you've pointed out they're complete jokes. And the best part is the only way they can beat this tactic is by trying to have honest discussion to increase credibility, and once they come in to the world of honest discussion, woo boy. They're so used to believing every stupid thing drip fed to them by the people on their side, they literally cannot distinguish a good source from a bad one, a good argument from a bad one, clear logic from screaming nonsense. They look like idiots who literally think white supremacist magazines are the same thing as legitimate science.

Do we know that these people are right-wing? Making a big deal over the gender reveal does not strike me as a reaction to the trans movement. I think it is just more of our society's general narcissism.

This whole thing is ridiculous, but I doubt it is related to any backlash to the trans movement. It's more related to grown adults giving birthday parties to their pets.
