Wait, how is she being forced to do this?

The mother in this case is dead.

Frankly this issue is going to make Democrats look that much worse. This may yet even come back to bite this particular DA in the ass.

So much confuse here. I didn't know that about New York's time window. Sounds like the only difference for consideration of the baby's life is being on the other side of the skin of the mother's stomach. Also, aren't doctors health care providers, or do you mean NOT NECESSARILY a doctor?LittleRaven wrote: ↑Wed Feb 13, 2019 3:16 amThere is no "legal abortion" window in New York. If the baby isn't born yet, it's legal to abort it. Although if the baby is far enough along, you do have to have a health care provider (NOT a doctor) willing to say it's in the best interests of the mother.BridgeConsoleMasher wrote: ↑Wed Feb 13, 2019 2:38 am I haven't gotten down to the middle of it, but if someone just aborted another person's baby, whether it was in the legal abortion time window or not... I mean really?
Anyways lastly the point I was getting at, was that if a man "aborts" a woman's baby without her consent (or say, murders it), who cares about if it's within legal abortion circumstances?

That's understandable, it's a very new law. Until recently, New York was much like most other states, where abortion was legal but regulated. On January 24th, it passed a new law, which changed things. Among other changes, it altered the requirements for obtaining a late-stage abortion, mandating only that a 'licensed health care professional,' makes the call - so a nurse or PA, for example, could stand in for a doctor, although a doctor would still work. It also made it very clear that a fetus is NOT considered to be a human at any stage of development until actual birth, so your observation about being on the other side of the skin is not inaccurate.BridgeConsoleMasher wrote: ↑Wed Feb 13, 2019 11:43 pmSo much confuse here. Well, like I said, it's a very new law, (seriously, it's a few weeks old!) so we're still in the process of finding that out. But early indications are that, well, a fetus is not a person, whether a mother wants it to be or not. So if I assault a woman and succeed in inducing an abortion, then I'm guilty of assault, but nothing more than that.Anyways lastly the point I was getting at, was that if a man "aborts" a woman's baby without her consent (or say, murders it), who cares about if it's within legal abortion circumstances?
