Hitler was joke nominated by an anti-fascist but withdrew it when he realized some lunatics took it seriously.Captain Crimson wrote: ↑Sat Oct 03, 2020 2:13 pmDidn't Hitler have one?CharlesPhipps wrote: ↑Sat Oct 03, 2020 12:51 pmKissinger and the guy who invented the lobotomy have one, so it's not like he'd even be the worst.Captain Crimson wrote: ↑Wed Sep 30, 2020 3:54 pm As I await my bus, I wanna say this, that the string of words "Noble Laureate Trump" sickens me more than you can possibly know...
Hitler was Time Magazine's Man of the Year, though.

The lobotomy is one of those things that we TODAY look at with absolute revulsion but WAS looked at upon as one of the holy grails of medicine. According to wiki, 40,000 of them were performed in the US and the last country to ban them was in the 1980s.CharlesPhipps wrote: ↑Sat Oct 03, 2020 12:51 pmKissinger and the guy who invented the lobotomy have one, so it's not like he'd even be the worst.Captain Crimson wrote: ↑Wed Sep 30, 2020 3:54 pm As I await my bus, I wanna say this, that the string of words "Noble Laureate Trump" sickens me more than you can possibly know...
It is not a surprise that he had enough backing to win the Nobel - he certainly deserved it more than Trump and Obama. And no, i'm backing lobotomies. I am merely suggesting that to put him in the same category as those two is unfair as he did actually achieve something more than ''not being Bush'' and ''talking to North Korea(?)''
As for Kissinger, that is a controversial subject to the point that we could spend a whole thread discussing him. TL;DR, there is a lot of completely justified shit to throw at him, but he did also end the Vietnam war, brought about ballistic missile treaties and helped bring the white rule of Rhodesia to an end.

Hitler was Time Magazine's Man of the Year, though.
Hitler appeared on the cover of TIME on multiple occasions — most famously perhaps on Jan. 2, 1939, when he was named Man of the Year. That choice abided by the dictum of TIME founder Henry Luce, who decreed that the Man of the Year — now Person of the Year — was not an honor but instead should be a distinction applied to the newsmaker who most influenced world events for better or worse. In case that second criterion was lost on readers, the issue that named Hitler dispensed with the portrait treatment that cover subjects typically got. Instead he was depicted as a tiny figure with his back to the viewer, playing a massive organ with his murdered victims spinning on a St. Catherine’s wheel. Underneath the stark, black-and-white illustration was the caption, “From the unholy organist, a hymn of hate.”
I bolded that line for a reason as too many people forget this. Hitler wasn't man of the year because he was beloved, he was man of the year because he was a pos that the whole world was talking about.

I missed the ''not'' out. I only put that in there because I thought someone would accuse me of it.

Not everyone who had them ended up catatonic Baby Doll characters.
But it's a bad look.
And Obama himself agrees with clearspira that he didn't deserve it. Which I suspect will irritate our fellow poster.
