Which country are you referring to?
Mexico probably
Well yeah I'm sure there was actually a place he was referring to. I'm still not certain what he means by 11th richest country... Or at least what that has to do with anything.
Mexico has about the 11th highest GDP of all the countries. This is kind of irrelevant because:
1) The per capita amount is the important part
2) The refugees are coming from poorer Central American countries
Also the weird idea that someone coming from another country to live here is an inherently bad thing. Presumably he thinks that we're rationing food bars or something.

Remember, if THEY start coming here and getting Rights and Freedoms, then WE'LL start losing OURS. Such esoteric concepts are OBVIOUSLY a finite physical resource.

Well, the British aren't too far off of that, so... Oh wait, they stopped "brown people" from coming to their country before the current troubles., so this can't possibly be related.

GDP per capita is still pretty loose as it doesn't signify a necessary correlation between the wealth of the population and the combined value of every product and service sold in a fiscal year by businesses conducting commerce within the state region. It can still be heavily skewed by inequality or foreign direct investment, as is the case with one of the Irelands.

Sure. But it's more wrong to say that living in Luxembourg is much worse than living in Indonesia, China or Russia, on the grounds that Luxembourg is ranked 104th while the previous three are all in the top ten.

Ideally, clearpsira might start at the proportion of citizens living in underdeveloped conditions and not handwave that away with state financial data, even before he thinks to control GDP data for the population average.

They would be together if cruel people acting with outrageous amounts of authority hadn't torn their families apart. Viewing this as somehow a just desserts for moving from one country to another is morally reprehensible.

Correct me if I am wrong, but we are not talking about people who legally applied for asylum in the US. They didn't legally apply for a VISA or a green card or citizenship. They didn't legally go through an employment agency settling overseas. They didn't legally go through any of the correct channels. They legally did... nothing. At all. They did nothing.

What they in fact did was march up to the border, barge their way in, BREAK THE LAW, and then were arrested and processed.

So basically, all of these proclamations about how evil I am for having a go at such poor blighted people just seeking jobs and freedom is suspect as best. They are criminals who did absolutely nothing by the book whatsoever. And that comes with it the fact that you do not have any idea who these people are or what other crimes that they have committed because they didn't do things properly.

Those are people that you want in your country is it? People who you have no idea about, could have done anything, and are willing to break the law to get in?
We used to argue whether Star Trek or Star Wars was better. Now we argue which one is worse.

That's the fucked up part. These people march all the way from Guatemala or wherever, get all the way to the border post, say the whole "We're in fear of our lives" bit, and then they get separated from their children anyway.

The concept of legality is fine by me, but the processing has to be done in a humane manner either way. It isn't done in that way and that is the prime issue. It's true socialist rhetoric will argue that they should just be let in, and progressive understanding will have no reason to support their trek from the bottom of Chile. But the bottom line is that they need to be treated like human beings despite the law being broken.
