Someone married for so long doesn't often last long once their partner dies, though women fair better than men in that regard.
Charles has said he intends to continue the family tradition of maintaining the name George.

Why people don't like him? It's an excuse for those who are anti-royalty in the first place to latch on to, and that's it. Not that I'm attacking antt-royalty, just those who pick up on any excuse to claim they're right, even ones that sway no-one's opinion either way.CharlesPhipps wrote: ↑Thu Nov 25, 2021 1:42 pm Charles has wanted to be King and his parents dead since he was fourteen.
This isn't a controversial fact and a large part of why people don't like him.

I mean plenty of people love William and Harry and hate Charles. Their reasons can be shallow or in-depth but Charles' popularity has always been lower.Riedquat wrote: ↑Sat Nov 27, 2021 12:47 amWhy people don't like him? Charles was quite popular when he was younger, how things went with Diana torpedoed things even before the divorce. Diana wasn't the angel people present (but very human in her flaws) but public opinion was solidly on her side and he has never recovered since then.Riedquat wrote: ↑Sat Nov 27, 2021 12:47 amWhy people don't like him? There's also the matter that he doesn't even appeal to conservatives and traditionalists beyond him being the next in line. A lot of what he's said and done since the 60s has rubbed them the wrong way which has resulted in many people united in hoping that he dies before Lizzie does.
Re: British Queen "Enters a New Phase"
I think it's a combination of his popularity and his age. He is I think 73 and probably inherited his parents genes and has at least 20 more years. His age is usually brought up. Why replace a fossil with a slightly younger fossil.
I personally don't care. Not my country and I honestly do not see how it would affect the world in any significant way in having Prince Charles or Prince William as King.
That's your thing across the pond.

I'd say it had started to recover at least a decade after Diana's death, but then the fourth season of THE CROWN came along and resentment for Charles (and Camilla) rose up again. The Royals had to turn off comments on Instagram because it got flooded by viewers of THE CROWN. Pretty funny too because the show is largely fictional (such as strongly implying that Charles and Camilla were already having an affair as early as a week before Charles and Diana's wedding).Beastro wrote: ↑Sat Nov 27, 2021 3:37 amCharles was quite popular when he was younger, how things went with Diana torpedoed things even before the divorce. So y'all think the old lady is still alive, then?

Probably. There is no reason to hide her death. From what I understand there has been a plan for years if not decades including prerecorded segments. They are prepared for it.Fuzzy Necromancer wrote: ↑Sun Nov 28, 2021 3:43 am So y'all think the old lady is still alive, then?

Most likely. Though who knows where those ears came from.
