It's like they're being deceived somehow...hammerofglass wrote: ↑Sun Jan 21, 2024 10:25 am There's been a growing movement in US Christianity specifically that basically throws out all the Christian parts. The Sermon on the Mount especially seems to be a problem for them, but really anything about how caring for others is good.

It's called Evangelicalism. Has been a cancerous growth on the US ever since the Mayflower. Who'd think that the Catholics would proof to be more modern and sensible at some point...hammerofglass wrote: ↑Sun Jan 21, 2024 10:25 am There's been a growing movement in US Christianity specifically that basically throws out all the Christian parts.

Even for them it's excessive. They used to at least give lip service, "hate the sin love the sinner" and all that. Even the Dominionsts had the fig leaf that they pretended that their religion made them the most moral so they should rule. But over the last decade or so they dropped all of that and embraced blatant worship of power and open delight in cruelty.Madner Kami wrote: ↑Sun Jan 21, 2024 3:46 pmIt's called Evangelicalism. Back in the big push to overthrow separation of church in state and do things like destroy abortion accesd and teach young Earth creationism in the naughties I thought they were bad but I could at least see how they could see themselves as the heroes of the story and justify the harm they did and wanted to do. The version from today I can't, it's just evil on it's face. Petty evil with naked hatred in it's eyes.
One can only match, move by move, the machinations of fate... and thus defy the tyrannous stars.

It really has become impossible to justify, almost entirely due to the naked hatred.hammerofglass wrote: ↑Sun Jan 21, 2024 6:47 pm I thought they were bad but I could at least see how they could see themselves as the heroes of the story and justify the harm they did and wanted to do.
