Well, we certainly could. The Founders left us a method.

But frankly, if we ARE going to start tinkering with the Constitution, that wouldn't be where I would start. The President is NOT like other other citizens. We can't really treat him as one.

The solution to our current problems with the office is not to change the rules...it's to elect better Presidents.
That's the thing with democracy, if there's too much misinformation flying around people people will literally vote for the guy who's scamming them because they're afraid of "the demoncrats" or want to "trigger the libs".

Better Presidents really aren't likely to happen. A better system for catching Presidential malfeasance? That could actually work.

Ugh, this discourse is getting bleak. Reminds me of the horror short story "Town Manager". It's in audio form on pseudopodorg if you're interested.

If you were right wing or just an unwoke social democrat why would you not be afraid of the Democrats?

Indeed. So long as the primary strategy everyone uses to determine who gets their vote is "lesser evil", the list of candidates is going to continue being progressively greater "lesser evils".

We could've had Bernie Sanders, for chrissake. And instead we got to choose between a woman who, while actually much less corrupt than the average American politician, is also spectacularly bad at APPEARING clean (not helped by the 25 straight years of hate propaganda directed against her)...and the walking incarnation of soulless greed.

See, this is why we need to have more of the voting-age population vote, and to get more of our people better-educated about politics. A pretty big slice of Americans would be hard-pressed to tell you who the Speaker of the House is, for chrissake.

And boy oh boy he would had been more divisive than Trump which takes talent.

I don't really see someone who fancies themselves to be socialist as a better option to who the Democrats ended up getting behind.

Did Bernie Sanders call for people to beat up protesters at his rallies in real time?

Would Bernie Sanders get into twitter beefs with other nuclear powers while taking his first shit of the day?

Those are the only ways to be divisive?

Of course not, but alt-righters think that the policies that pretty much every blue-collar worker in the northern 2/3 of the USA wanted would somehow be divisive just because rich fucksticks would whine about them on Faux News.
