Daffy does all right for himself except when he's with Bugs. And even then, there's one notable exception...
If you'd prefer, you can think of me as the scourge God has sent to punish you. (You know what you did.)

Really? I took one look at the opening of your first post here:
And assumed that you were so pissed with the registration process you decided to name yourself with the emotion you were feeling at the time.

Prince Harry has stated abortion is a human right to the United Nations.
Given he's been effectively kicked out of the royal family, he actually can make political comments as part of his activities whereas the rest are forbidden by Parliament. So, ironically, Harry may be the last politically relevant royal.

The idea of 'rights' has pretty much run its course, I think. Overuse of the term has cheapened it to refer to anything the speaker thinks would be desirable for people to have.

That applies to MOST OF THE POLITICAL DICTIONARY, at this point.Frustration wrote: ↑Wed Jul 20, 2022 7:50 pm The idea of 'rights' has pretty much run its course, I think. Overuse of the term has cheapened it to refer to anything the speaker thinks would be desirable for people to have.

The sad thing is that you're right. It makes it very difficult to communicate about political issues if the core terms have been bastardized into meaningless - which may be why it's done.

I mean, a lot of these things are things that are things people should have.Frustration wrote: ↑Wed Jul 20, 2022 7:50 pm The idea of 'rights' has pretty much run its course, I think. Overuse of the term has cheapened it to refer to anything the speaker thinks would be desirable for people to have.

A conservative member of the US Supreme Court has mocked world leaders who criticised last month's ruling that overturned American abortion rights.
This one is funny. Here's my favourite quote: Referring to religious liberty, he said it was "under attack in many places because it is dangerous to those who want to hold complete power".
Ah. Someone should really tell him that the US is set up specifically in a way where no one holds complete power and therefore any one ideology isn't actually that dangerous to the the US political system as a whole.
There is an old saying: ''equality seems like oppression to those who have privilege.'' Religion is not ''under attack.'' What its called is the separation of church and state. Where people have a problem with religion is when it strips women of their rights or removes LGBT themed books from libraries. Y'know, guff like that Mr Alito.
