Voter Disenfranchisement
Re: Voter Disenfranchisement
I was that person in a city that didn't drive and didn't have a license (fun fact: still don't) but I did get a state ID, because people ask for ID and if you don't have a license you need to show something they will accept. People who ask for ID that a poor person like myself would run into include: Currency Exchange/check cashing shop, utility office to pay bill, anyone I would try to get credit from. You don't function well as a poor person without ID.
We must dissent. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iwqN3Ur ... l=matsku84

@Fuzzy Necromancer No, these were just young spoiled brats being shits. And helping to divide the party at a time when unity was critical, and didn't wanna accept the fact Sanders was losing fair and square.
@Robovski Well, I can personally vouch for this. Getting my ID in Chicago was hell. And we only make 25,000 a year or so. Also, the second we moved back to Minnesota, they canceled our voter registration in Chicago. So don't give me that fraud is as widespread as wildfire.

Voter fraud is virtually non-existent, therefor every "crack down on voter fraud" movement is really about cracking down on people likely to vote democrat and an attempt to steal elections.
Yukaphile, we wouldn't have a "divided" party if we had more options for candidates who don't approve of dropping bombs on civilian weddings.

If your voter registration in Georgia doesn't match EXACTLY with information from other government agencies, your registration is put On Hold. That might be enough to stop you from voting this midterm.
Move recently? Tough smeg.
Get married or divorced? Oh dear.
Trans person who transitioned? Hahahahahahahahah.

This kind of stuff is so blatantly a conflict of interest it really ticks me off that people just let it happen.Fuzzy Necromancer wrote: ↑Wed Oct 24, 2018 5:04 am Hey did you know the guy in charge of Georgia's election is one of the CANDIDATES?! 8D

Plausible deniability. Very very easy to just ignore a problem that just so happens to benefit you. Best part, you're not even going to get convicted because they can't prove that you knew what was going on.Deledrius wrote: ↑Wed Oct 24, 2018 7:17 amThis kind of stuff is so blatantly a conflict of interest it really ticks me off that people just let it happen.Fuzzy Necromancer wrote: ↑Wed Oct 24, 2018 5:04 am Hey did you know the guy in charge of Georgia's election is one of the CANDIDATES?! 8D
Politicians LOVE that stuff. Democrats do it too, but they do it against the left wing of their own party and do it to all their primary voters instead of by ethnic group; it's the Republicans that like to disenfranchise and screw over specific ethnic populations. Consequences of the Southern Strategy and decades of playing the race card.

Re: Voter Disenfranchisement
People from Texas saying they voted straight ticket, but the voting machine switched their votes to straight ticket for the other party.
No idea who is responsible or why this is happening. Both parties have extreme elements! I wonder though if they are mostly switching in favor of a certain party, and/or candidate? =o Who could have predicted trouble with electronic voting machines that have no paper trail and a security level that I could hack with a gameboy color?
It Is a Mystery u.u

Re: Voter Disenfranchisement
It's not a mystery. It's a bug.
The problem is that when voting straight ticket, Republican is the default option. If you vote Democrat, but hit enter before the screen is finished rendering, it goes back to the default. Note that this WILL show when you review your ballot, which is how this got caught so quickly. You can then go back and fix it.Secretary of State election director Keith Ingram says the problem is occurring on Hart eSlate voting machines that have a wheel for selecting candidates and an “enter” button. He said issues arise when voters hit “enter” before their choice is fully rendered.
Now, this is obviously a bad bug, and one that should get fixed post-haste - although I doubt it can be fixed before election day. But it's not a mysterious cabal of sinister forces.
Check your ballots, people.
