No? What? There are guns on movie sets all the time, because there is an endless parade of movies about violence. "Driving on the sidewalk", that analogy is a wild mischaracterization. The analogy would be, "you go to start up a car not knowing it was rigged to explode". What did they think was going to happen? Probably the same shit that happens the 10,000 other times a gun is fired in a movie's production.hammerofglass wrote: ↑Wed Oct 27, 2021 11:01 am I mean intellectually I know hundreds of people are killed and tens of thousands are injured by accidental discharges every year, it happens, but this is the equivalent of hearing the fatal car accident happened when the driver was innocently driving on the sidewalk. WTF did they think was going to happen?

I think the analogy was spot on. Guns fire bullets that is what they are for. There are rules to follow for safely using them. Cars drive, there are rules to safely using them. Fail to obey the rules and people get hurt. Cars can drive down a sidewalk but should not. You can draw and pull the trigger on people you do not intend to kill, but you should not.Rocketboy1313 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 27, 2021 4:37 pmNo? What? According to the article they weren't even doing a shot, he was practicing a side draw. The camera wasn't even on. He was pointing a gun at people, and a very basic rule of gun safety is always assume every gun is loaded, has a broken safety, and a hair trigger. Not only that but NOBODY in the chain from the weapons manager (or whatever the title is, it sounds like there was no actual safety professional on set) to Baldwin himself actually checked the chamber, which is something you do EVERY SINGLE TIME you handle a weapon.Rocketboy1313 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 27, 2021 4:37 pmNo? Gun was a prop and the misfiring was a fluke of operation not handling.
..What mirror universe?

Can you give a source?BridgeConsoleMasher wrote: ↑Wed Oct 27, 2021 8:57 pm Gun was a prop and the misfiring was a fluke of operation not handling.
Not doubting what you read. But I have a very unreliable source saying she read that they were all real and going out shooting with them between takes. And of course she could not point out her source.
Yet I saw a headline that Alec Baldwin does not even like guns. So all I am hearing is across the map.

I'm kind of weary of the idea of trying to find a "what we know so far" that is adequate for right now given there have been countless articles/updates. That being said, I'll see what I can do.Nealithi wrote: ↑Wed Oct 27, 2021 9:16 pmCan you give a source?BridgeConsoleMasher wrote: ↑Wed Oct 27, 2021 8:57 pm Gun was a prop and the misfiring was a fluke of operation not handling.

Wikipedia says that he was handed a prop by an assistant director rather than a particular prop master.
Apparently there are supposed to be union representative safety people on set for this kind of stuff when there officially should have been, and it is also the case that 8 union members were dismissed from set for protesting safety related issues just hours before the incident.
..What mirror universe?
Re: Alec Baldwin Kills Two On Set in Prop Gun Misshap
Sounds like different stories going on there, the ones I heard said that they walked out due to safety reasons rather than being dismissed for protesting about them.BridgeConsoleMasher wrote: ↑Wed Oct 27, 2021 9:21 pm Apparently there are supposed to be union representative safety people on set for this kind of stuff when there officially should have been, and it is also the case that 8 union members were dismissed from set for protesting safety related issues just hours before the incident.

Well okay. My bad maybe.
..What mirror universe?
Re: Alec Baldwin Kills Two On Set in Prop Gun Misshap
I'm not saying I was right, I was wondering which it was. That's the problem with rumours.
Re: Alec Baldwin Kills Two On Set in Prop Gun Misshap
I have heard both versions. The only thing clear is there were union safety people and they left.
