I think they're quite happy to have an excuse to continue the genocide. Endless war is good for the military-industrial complex.

Republicans were never about that. This is just finding what they think is excess spending and what they think is fraud. And the MAGA base is buying into it. Even if they don't know what is being 'found'.CharlesPhipps wrote: ↑Fri Feb 14, 2025 11:24 amFraud and excess spending=helping the poor, disadvantaged, and brownMcAvoy wrote: ↑Fri Feb 14, 2025 1:03 amBut. Common argument I have seen is 'you don't want to find fraud and needless spending'? No not if it involves gutting the government to recreate it your image. To your own ideas.
Should a serious audit be done? Sure. But make it transparent. Report it.
If funds for let's say helping poor families is being horribly managed with let's say 63% of it going mysteriously somewhere else then all means. Fix it and as a last resort shut it down. Put a new program in it's place with more transparency for it.
I got nothing to say here.

That'd be the argument except they shut down foreign aid that is desperately needed to keep global stability, helps American famers because it's BOUGHT from American farmers, and helps the economy because those farmers can buy shit.
These people are also unaware of what these agencies due like how on Thursday, they fired a 5th of the nuclear regulatory agency....unaware it was the one that controlled the nukes.

You don't need a conspiracy or a shadow cabal steering things. You just need a few actors working in their own interest and taking opportunities against or, at the least over the interests of the society they live in. It's a pretty common thing to happen. People create interests groups naturally. It's called cliques and you can see that happen in Kindergarten already, getting progressively worse afterwards.Riedquat wrote: ↑Sat Feb 15, 2025 4:28 pm"Military-industrial complex" is always a sign of someone a bit too much in to the conspiracy theories.Fuzzy Necromancer wrote: ↑Thu Feb 13, 2025 3:24 pm I think they're quite happy to have an excuse to continue the genocide. Do you have any idea how many American jobs would be lost if world peace was declared tomorrow? It is not just the arms industry. It is support infrastructure, retail, R&D, land and property owners. The MIC is basically the biggest employer in the country.Riedquat wrote: ↑Sat Feb 15, 2025 4:28 pm"Military-industrial complex" is always a sign of someone a bit too much in to the conspiracy theories.Fuzzy Necromancer wrote: ↑Thu Feb 13, 2025 3:24 pm I think they're quite happy to have an excuse to continue the genocide. It's also got a budget bigger than several of the next-biggest military budgets combined. Imagine if we spent just a fraction of that on things that help people instead of killing brown foreigners for their oil.
