Voter Disenfranchisement

Why do you suppose a republican-controlled state full of gerrymandered democrats might have machines that default to Republican?

No big secret there. Defaults are set at the state level, and Texas is run entirely by Republicans. Of course they're the default.

I mean, you can't even really argue that they shouldn't be the default. Republicans outperform Democrats massively on the state level, and have for decades. That's slowly changing...but it's slow.

Well, I'd argue that they're shouldn't be a default. If I can submit a form without selecting anything, that's a badly designed form.

Let's be clear, this only comes up if you submit a straight party line vote. If you just leave things blank, they stay blank.

There is only 1 polling place for 27,000 people in Dodge City, KS, which is 60% Hispanic, & it's being moved outside of town, 1 mile from nearest bus stop. Now election officials sent mail to new voters listing wrong polling place

I want to reiterate that the Left just outright doesn't do any of this stuff.

From what I read it seemed to go like this:
1) Ballot begins rendering.
2) Voter presses straight ballot button.
3) Ballot completes rendering.
4) Voter moves on to confirmation screen.
Result: Ballot is displayed with default selections on part of ballot rendered after straight ballot button was pressed.

Now there are three easy solutions I can think of:
1) Disable the straight ballot button until the ballot is rendered.
2) Eliminate defaults so the voter cannot continue without selecting a choice.
3) Speed up rendering.
