Or you start favoring one leg over the other which creates hip, back and leg issues. Which causes you to favor the original bad leg, which then creates other issues. Rinse and repeat. It's true of physiology, and it's metaphorically true of politics. There's nothing so permanent as a temporary political solution - we adapt to it, and eventually we become dependent upon it. Then trying to change anything causes pain and disruption, which motivates people to avoid change.

If they actually make this stick Florida's biggest employer will have to leave the state. The damage to the Disney Parks brand once the infrastructure in the district starts degrading to the level of the rest of Florida will be more than the cost of moving.
Whether it gets overturned or not no big company is going to want to be in Florida now. If the government can back out of a long term agreement on a whim then the ground is not stable enough to trust with a major investment.

Disneyworld is the size of San Francisco. Moving to a different state is an empty threat.hammerofglass wrote: ↑Sun Apr 24, 2022 9:53 am If they actually make this stick Florida's biggest employer will have to leave the state. Now don't get me wrong I don't think they'll have to, some hopped up wannabe dictator who was elected on a fraction of percent margin and has to defend his seat in a few months versus a glabal megacorp is no contest.

It’s tremendously unlikely that Disney would “move” Disney World, yes. The logistics are just a nightmare.
What they would do is stop investing and improving Disney World and probably shuffle resources into some other east coast project. Part of the Disney park brand is being this clean, friendly escape from the regular world and that falls apart without Disney themselves being able to maintain the surrounding areas, and the counties Disney World is in just aren’t going to have the funds to maintain the same standard even with the predicted tax hikes.

I was going to remark about how San Francisco is particularly diminutive in geographical landscape which I would guess serves to inflate comparing something to it as a big city, but then I stumbled across another comparison that showed that DW is twice the size of Manhattan Island and I thought it best to just give up in keeping track of the precision in concern able ratio.clearspira wrote: ↑Sun Apr 24, 2022 12:45 pmDisneyworld is the size of San Francisco. No shit sherlock. Disney is Not the Good Guy? Honestly, if the megacorp bean counters say that acknowledging minorities and catering to their wants and needs is the right move, then that's a win. Yes, they're motivated by greed, but at least it's ONLY greed.Fuzzy Necromancer wrote: ↑Mon Apr 25, 2022 8:30 pmNo shit sherlock. Disney is Not the Good Guy? The people who have a problem with the very basic level of acknowledgement Disney puts out are mostly either in their own little media bubble and not consuming Disney products anyway or watching every single entry of Star Wars / MCU / whatever religiously to complain about how "woke" it is every time somebody who isn't a straight white cis man appears or is mentioned on screen. There's nothing to gain by trying to accommodate them when it would alienate everybody else.ProfessorDetective wrote: ↑Mon Apr 25, 2022 10:36 pmHonestly, if the megacorp bean counters say that acknowledging minorities and catering to their wants and needs is the right move, then that's a win.
